my roomie made chili in a crockpot but it's been sitting out, covered, but not refrigerated, for 24 hours. i assume it's not edible now?

Personally, I'd heat it up to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer it for about twenty minutes, and eat it. But I'm sure there are folks who would toss it...

What temperature was it in your house? I'd bring it to a boil for a few minutes and eat it.

Was there meat in the chili? I wouldn't eat unrefrigerated meat after that long.

you people are all pansies! eat it, its fine. its not like its a giant vat of ceviche. cooked meet in all that acidity can be out for days without going bad. why the hell do you think it was so popular with the cowboy crowd? the friggen indians didn't have refrigerators!

I'd throw it out...and curse the roomie for wasting chili!

Yeah, if it has meat in it, I'd toss it. Vegetarian chili might be salvagable, but I wouldn't risk it with meat.
