I feel sushi, oh so sushi...

Tonight my daughter and I decided to try our hands at homemade sushi. We tackled a California roll (minus avocado) and shrimp nigri.

Here is my end result (love my Hello Kitty chopsticks!!):

We had such a good time. And oh my gosh, that rice really is sticky. By the time everything was said and done, we were covered in it!

Your sushi looks a thousand times better than mine. I finally learned that the best way to deal with the rice is to keep a bowl of water around and keep your fingers wet with it.

I have not made sushi in about 3 years, I think I'll have to break out my stuff and try it again.

That is exactly what we did. We kept a bowl of water with us and dampened our fingers each time we touched the rice. We also dampened the knife in between each cut.

You know what though, you say 'minus avocado', and it looks like avocado on the plate, and in the rolls. ?

Yes, well, there was a wee avocado abduction. My brother came downstairs right after I took the picture and took the avocado for his dinner. He saved just enough for MiaBella. So MiaBella's roll was the only one to have any avocado and the rest had cucumber.
