here you can at least look at the pics: first batch - honey and gingerbread, second batch, cheesecake, third batch - poppy pies and cakes, 4th catch - yeast based cakes... then cookies and whatever else you can think of, LOL :D

People used to use actual ground up meat for mincemeat, but now it's dried fruit, sugar, spices and alcohol in very sweet pastry. Miranda would approve :D

Anyway... Looks good! =) I've never had one of these, but I've always been curious about them ever since I was a kid.

I can't believe how many people have never had them, but then I guess there's all sorts of yummy American Christmas foods that I've never tried either!

They aren’t that common over here, unless I just live in a secluded part of the country (Which I do. Sometimes I feel like I live in Radiator Springs from Cars.). I’ve known about them pretty much all of my life, though. I used to have a Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer book when I was a kid and it showed him eating a slice of mince pie in one part of it. That’s where I first heard of them, oddly as it sounds. lol! I was curious about it for the longest time until I finally looked it up and learned what it actually was.
Yeah, we probably do have Christmas foods over here that you've never tried. Sadly, a lot of traditional Christmas goodies I grew up on have long since become extinct over the years. =( Now, whenever Christmas rolls around, I always get cravings for treats I can't find anymore and only have memories to look back on.

The only reason I have made my own previously is because they're super nice all warm straight from the oven - I had never thought to microwave them.

They are nice microwaved, though the pastry does go a bit soft!
I do like the idea of making my own, though if I do it will probably be with shop bought pastry and shop bought mincemeat haha!
