When I saw the trailer I wanted to see it. But when I saw the movie I was disappointed. I felt the main character very *unlikable* and that made watching the story difficult.

Really? She was difficult, but I think I found a lot of correlations having gone to private schools most of my life.

I found it unexpectedly depressing. I guess it's a sign of my age, I related much more to the parents than I did to Lady Bird :).

That scene where the dad interviews, and meets the kid on the way out? Broke my heart.

There were a lot of parallels for me both ways...having gone to private school almost exclusively elementary through senior year, and then, as a stepparent. Interview scene was admittedly sad.
