[She was still mad at him, for picking her up at all, but the scowl had lifted form her face, for the most part. Still, she looked a little out of it]
Like a knife is still lodged in my skull.... but better. [she didn't expect coming back to hurt so much]

No. It'll pass. It's already getting better. I just... [Have you ever seen birds nestle down in their feathers and look a little angry and fluffy? She was settling down in the couch/jacket/blanket mess much like that right now. a tiny little huff] ...still a bit annoyed by the whole thing.

[He cuts himself off once he realizes it's her message machine and waits for it to finish. He wonders for a moment if she ever stops sounding so accommodating, and as the beep rings in his ear, he hopes she never does.]

[She found the comment rather amusing.] Jackass? Not at all. That's what phones are for. [They also made it easier in case someone rejected the others plans, not that she was going to. Halloween was a holiday she came to really enjoy, and a party would be fun, or so she thought. She wasn't much of a party person either, but sometimes they could be a blast.]
You said you heard of a Halloween party? [and now with a bit of a teasing tone she asked slyly...] Are you asking me to go with you?
