Chapter: 5/?
Synopsis: It was no secret that Takashima Kouyou was a weird kid, no, everyone knew that and most people found it comical. Of all the little kids in Mrs. Yamaguchi’s first grade class, Kouyou was the most peculiar and had the least friends mainly because no one wanted to be near the kid who was convinced he had magical fairies in his book bag. It wasn’t just his imagination either, oh no, they were real fairies and Kouyou knew it. He spoke of them all the time and as long as no one ever saw them, and told someone of their appearance, they would never disappear. All the other little kids thought he was just crazy, even his two best friends, but he knew he was telling the truth, and that was all that mattered to him.
Comments: I just adore Kouyou in this chapter. He is a cutie patootie. xD

Kouyou stood next to Yuu while everyone waited for Takanori to walk down the aisle. They had already been waiting five minutes for the wedding to get started, yet Takanori still hadn’t walked out from behind the curly slide. Beside him, Yuu sighed and scratched his head impatiently. If Takanori didn’t hurry up, he was going to walk away and play somewhere by himself, that or stand on the line and wait for the bell to ring.

“I wish he’d hurry up.” Yuu muttered to himself as he crossed his arms.

“Yeah, I wish Takanori would hurry up too.” Kouyou patted his pocket softly and smiled sweetly at Yuu. Yuu’s eyes widened as a puff of sparkles floated out of Kouyou’s pocket and went toward the slide. Before he could even blink, Takanori was walking out from behind the slide with tulips grasped in his tiny hands.

‘So they really do exist…‘ Yuu thought to himself, glaring at the little boy next to him who just would not stop smiling.

Takanori reached Akira and smiled brightly taking Akira’s hands in his own. Akira inwardly flinched; there was no turning back now even if it was a fake wedding. He would forever be known as Takanori’s husband, or even worse: the man who was dumb enough to marry the school’s neat-freak, aggressive, and slightly dull midget.

Yutaka stood in front of them and cleared his throat noisily to get everyone’s attention. He didn’t know what he was supposed to say. He knew he was supposed to say something to marry them, but he didn’t know what that would be. In the movies there’s always some sort of rant-thing before the bride and groom kiss, so he tapped his lip and smiled to himself; he would just have to wing it and say whatever came to mind.

“We are--” Yutaka closed his mouth and waited again for the rest of the class to stop talking, which proved to be a hard task. “We are--” he sighed to himself and looked down at Takanori who was gritting his teeth.

“WOULD YOU ALL SHUT THE HELL UP?!” Takanori yelled angrily to his classmates. A round of “awe, he just said a bad word~” was heard before he glared and the class shut their mouths. “God, you’d think we’re getting married in front of a bunch of children~” he flipped his hair over his shoulder and turned to face Yutaka again.

“Uhm, yeah..” Yutaka giggled to himself nervously. “We are gathered here today to marry Suzuki Akira and Matsumoto Takanori. From the day they first met in kindergarten, Takanori knew he was destined to be with Akira for the rest of his life. Although Akira isn’t the nicest of people, or the smartest, Takanori was still able to find some part of him loveable, which I’m yet to understand.” He muttered the last part himself. “Akira… well I don’t know what to say about him. He’s ‘sweet’ and ‘caring’ and he really ‘loves’ Takanori, so I’m happy to marry them here today. Now, turn to each other and repeat after me.”

The two boys turned to each other with confused looks on their faces. Their wedding was nothing like the ones in the movies…

“I Aki-”

“COULD WE JUST GET THIS THING ON OVER WITH?!” Yutaka sighed to himself and glared down at his best friend standing in the crowd. It was just like Yuu to be impatient because he only cared about himself instead of others. While Akira and Takanori were engaging themselves in an event deemed ‘life changing,’ Yuu was thinking of how boring and pointless the whole situation was, even if he was the one to give Akira the small push in his confidence. But what did Yuu care? Nothing that was happening was benefiting him in any way. All he got to do was stand around in the hot sun with a squirrel, chipmunk, a kid with a broken arm, a teachers pet, an all too feminine midget, a huge moron, and Kouyou.

“It’d be over if everyone would stop interrupting me.” Yutaka muttered to himself and prepared to continue his sentence. But of course that wasn’t going to happen because before he could even utter a word, Yuu was pulling the bride and groom apart and grabbing hold of his shirt with a glare.

“What was that Yutaka?” Yuu tightened his hold on his friend’s shirt just a bit to get him squealing like a little girl. It paid to be best friends with Yutaka because --as everyone knew-- Yutaka became intimidated too easily by everyone around him given the situation, and if Yuu did as much as glared at him slightly he would fear for his little life. Yuu was not someone to mess with, especially during recess when he was able to run around and be the meanest kid he could possibly be because the teachers never paid any attention to the students outside.

“I-I said I’d be able to do this i-if you guys would let me finish w-what I was saying.” The smaller boy held his hands up to show he didn’t want to fight with the older boy. “PLEASE DON’T HURT ME!” he wailed loudly.

“Oh shut up and quit your bawling.” Yuu rolled his eyes and released his shirt. “Just make this thing go faster or you’ll be sorry.” And with that, Yuu hopped back to his place beside Kouyou with a grin.

The wedding proceeded with a fuming Takanori, an annoyed Akira, and a very scared Yutaka. If brides were allowed to go completely insane and kill the person who ruined their wedding, Takanori was sure Yuu wouldn’t be standing anymore. His wedding was supposed to be the happiest moment of his life, and now it was completely ruined and Yuu was to blame.

‘Who does he think he is?!‘ he thought to himself as he looked up at Akira.

“Ahem…” Yutaka coughed nervously. “You may now kiss the midget.” he turned his back and covered his eyes so he didn’t have to witness the two swapping germs and cooties.

Akira hesitated and glanced to his side at Kouyou for some sort of help, but unfortunately, Kouyou had no idea what his facial expression meant. So with a shrug of his shoulders, Kouyou turned to Yuu with a smile and giggled to himself.

“You’re taking too long.” Takanori whispered grabbing the collar of Akira’s shirt and crashing their lips together. He smiled contently while Akira, on the other hand, had wide eyes and was sure he was either going to vomit or scream. He was kissing a midget, and evil midget who was now convinced they were actually married.

“OH MY GOD!” He yelled pushing Takanori away long enough to wipe his mouth on his shirt to get rid of the taste of the other boy. Kissing was disgusting and --as his older sister had told him-- could get people pregnant. The last thing he wanted was to get Takanori pregnant by kissing him, or even worse, Takanori getting him pregnant. It’s not that he didn’t want to get pregnant as much as he just couldn’t sacrifice his-proclaimed awesome body, and he just couldn’t carry around a baby without his mom finding out, and then that would cause a commotion because she would get mad because he wasn’t old enough for kids yet, and then he’d have to think of a name, and then Takanori would have to get a job to support them so they could both move out on their own, and then he’d actually have to go through all the pain of actually having the kid, which he was sure to be painful because just WHERE would the thing come out?!

“What is your problem, honey?” Takanori batted his eyelashes cutely while resting his head on the taller boy’s shoulder.

“Do. Not. Kiss. Me.” Akira huffed and swatted at Takanori to make him get away from him.

“But married couples kiss all the time~!” Takanori pouted while looking down at his feet obviously upset that his now-husband didn’t want to kiss him.

“Yeah but I don’t want one of us to get pregnant.” Akira sighed resting his hand on the other boy’s shoulder.

“PREGNANT?!” Takanori massaged his temples and took a deep breath. Boys couldn’t get pregnant; everyone knew that.

“Yes pregnant. Yue-san told me people got pregnant from kissing, and you just kissed me so one of us might have a baby! Think of all the bad things that could happen because of that! I mean, neither one of us are responsible enough to have a baby, and you don’t have a job so there’s no one to support us, and my parents wouldn’t want to take care of another baby!”

“Pfft!” Takanori turned on his heel as the bell rung, “and everyone thinks I’m stupid.”

Once back in the classroom, Kouyou skipped to his book bag and opened his crayon box to put his fairies away. There were only three more hours left of school before he could let his fairies out in the open. He knew they hated it in his crayon box because it was hot and dark, not to mention it was hard to breathe. Kouyou was pretty sure his pocket hadn’t been any more comfortable for Shinji and Naoyuki, and he’d more than likely hear it from Shinji later. If there was anything the dark-haired fairy hated it was being too close to Naoyuki for long periods of time. It was nothing personal: Naoyuki was just annoying and motherly.

“Where were you two?!” Kouyou hissed as he placed the two fairies in the crayon box. Shinji shrugged his shoulders and stretched with a loud sigh of relief, while Naoyuki turned to him and bowed apologetically.

“Sorry we didn’t actually tell you, but the wish was for us to go somewhere only you would know. We figured we didn’t have to tell you where we were since it was kind of obvious.” The little fairy giggled nervously.

“That’s not answering my question!” He looked over his shoulder as Yuu took his seat on the reading mat in front of the teacher while everyone else put their stuff away. If he was quick enough he could sit by him and win him over.

“We were in your hair, baka.” Shinji sat on an eraser and smirked. “I’m surprised you didn’t feel us moving around up there, but you probably have too much hair spray in to feel a thing. Next time you make a wish like that, pick a specific place so you don’t cry the entire time. Giving you hints was too difficult since you’re so dull you couldn’t even feel them.”

“SHINJI!” Naoyuki squealed diving at the taller fairy. “You be nice to my sweet little Kouyou or-”

‘They’re worse than Takanori and Akira.‘ Kouyou shook his head as he closed the lid to his crayon box and put it back in his book bag. Once he was done he sauntered over to the reading mat and plopped himself down next to Yuu with a smile. Kouyou had made more progress in one day than he had since he began school; now Yuu at least spoke to him, even if he was sometimes rude. He would take rude over not talking at all because at least then the older boy looked at him.

“Stop.” Yuu turned with a glare that would make anyone else run away, but Kouyou wasn’t going to be scared away so easily. No, he was going to make Yuu love him if it was the last thing he did.

“Stop what?” Kouyou smiled even wider and tilted his head to the side cutely. Everyone loved a cute person, and Kouyou was beyond being just cute; he was down right adorable. He would have Yuu falling for him in no time.

“Smiling at me, you freak.” Kouyou's smile dropped at the other boys words and was replaced with a pout.

“I’m not a freak…” he played with his fingers and turned away. Even Yuu thought he was a freak when Kouyou was sure he was different from the other kids.

“You’re the one with that smile.” Yuu reached over and patted the blonde on the head apologetically. “I didn’t mean to make it sound like you’re weird or anything.”

“What’s wrong with my smile?” Kouyou’s pout deepened and his eyes seemed to grow larger, which only made Yuu bite his lip and look over hoping the teacher was ready to start reading to the class. “Mommy said I have a nice smile.”

“….”

“And Mrs. Suzuki said it’s adorable, and Mrs. Matsumoto said I have a smile that could make anyone swoon.” Kouyou’s bottom lip trembled slightly as Yuu looked around to keep himself from looking at the other boy.

“….”

“Why don’t you like it?” Kouyou stood up to run over to his book bag to grab Naoyuki. If anyone could make him feel better, it was Naoyuki because he was the only fairy with a heart --Kouyou was convinced.

“Kouyou~” Yuu whined and chased after him. “Don’t be a girl and get overly emotional. I don’t think anything is wrong with your smile.” He grabbed the other boy before he could get to his book bag and pulled him back to the reading mat.

“Really~” Kouyou turned to face him with a rather large smile planted on his face.

Yuu smacked himself in the face and sat down. “Yes. Really.”

Kouyou bounced excitedly while clapping his hands. “Does my smile make you swoon Yuu? Is it nice Yuu? Do you think it’s adorable Yuu?” The younger boy bit his bottom lip and giggled crazily to himself waiting for Yuu's response that came in the form of a grunt.

“Yes, Kouyou. Your smile makes me swoon. It’s adorable and nice. There, are you happy?” Yuu glared and crossed his arms over his chest defeated. There he admitted it: Crazy Kouyou was cute. He didn’t exactly say that, but he was pretty sure that was how Kouyou interpreted it.

Before he could even say another word, Kouyou was lunging himself at him and squealing like a crazed girl. “Kou-” he tried to speak but Kouyou had a death-grip on him and knocked them both over so they were lying on the floor.

“YES~!!!!” Kouyou squealed happily kicking his feet while Yuu tried his best to push him away, but quickly gave up because it was clear that Kouyou wasn’t going to be letting go any time soon.

A/N: This is how I picture Kouyou's character.
