Just going to throw it out there that he may have PTSD, so to him, going out alone in the dark and getting shot at may still be a very real fear.

There's plenty of conflicts in the last 50 years that he may have been deployed to. Even if his fear is irrational and unfounded to you, it might be the tip-off of real anxiety from where he's coming from.

Just a thought. :)

Hn, i suppose that is a possiblity.
however he also tells me about the times at his home he shoots at animals and waves his gun at kids. he doesn't seem to have any issues with his "old war days" (as he's put it) aside from trying to make them seem imporant and possibly reliving glory days.
but i suppose that could be a cover of some sort.

i hadn't thought about that. i didn't mean to possibly offend.

No worries, no offense taken-- he sounds like a pretty messed up guy, to be honest. Not anyone I'd want to know.

health wise seems to be doing better, we didn't have any issues last night so hopefully that'll keep up
