Now there was a strange sight. A man sitting in the abandoned cafeteria (who would want to eat anything after the chemical spill?), with nothing but a cup of tea. It didn't seem like an important enough thing to make him leave his cabin. Or did he just want to be alone that much?

He looked sad.

Probably with good reason. Cordelia couldn't help but remember her own state when she first arrived here. To be honest, she was surprised at how well most of the recruits dealt with the shock.

Not sure if he wanted company, she sat down across from him silently, without trying to force a conversation or even eye contact, and waited to see if he would say anything.

Surprising that someone would be brave enough to come out from the cabins. Rishfee had already pondered the nature of the spill, deciding that it showed a severe lack of competence on the officers part to not simply order the Automations (which after all, didn't have to respire) to assist clearing up the spill. But he didn't involve himself with the military. Never had even at home, and never would.

He sensed the woman sit, and raised his head- fingers uncurling from around the mug of steaming substance before he wordlessly brought them forward to a small pot in the center of the table; taking a cup beside it and pouring some liquid into it for her. Then he spoke.

"Surprising.." a small mention, at the fact she was here and not cowering with the others. Had the spill affected her? Who knew. But any sort of distraction from the vision of what had become his family being executed was welcome. Little did he know what his mind conjured hadn't actually happened- what had happened after his death was worse.

Cordelia had- rather a lot of experience dealing with emotionally difficult situations. After what she had gone through in her own world, before being transported here, she wasn't going to start acting ridiculous just because of some hormonal upset - or so it turned out, when one of her roommates accidentally left the window open. She probably wouldn't have taken the risk, otherwise.

Chemical spill or not, she really could use some tea and a a quiet conversation today. Especially the latter was not easy to come by here, even on the good days. "Thank you." she said, pleasantly surprised at his silent offer. She took a small sip of the tea, and sighed, relaxing. That was nice.

"Yes?" she prompted gently as he trailed off. I wasn't obvious to her what he was asking - not knowing about his inhuman powers, she had no reason to think her own presence here was any more surprising than his. Even in this new and forever surprising world, she didn't manage to lose enough of her preconceptions to stop expecting humanoids to breathe.

"That you're here." Rishfee responded in a quiet yet brisk manner, before lifting his own cup to his lips again and examining the woman for a passing moment before he decided that it was almost a certainty that she had been exposed to it. ...At least she didn't seem to be of much bother like this. That was a blessing.

...Saying that, he was too used to the liability that was Aht Urhgan's experiments on Nyzul Isle. He couldn't really expect anything to be on a scale such as that, but more... keeping an eye open for anything similar was his mindset at the moment. Especially if similar was the case.

Smiling ever so pleasantly under his veil, the Immortal rested his head on his hand as he continued. "It is nice to take advantage of it being quiet. Especially when you want something prepared well." He couldn't say that he really enjoyed the methods of food prep here, let alone anything that required a little skill like chai, or this imitation. Perhaps it was simply a culture thing.
