I'm a referee myself (soccer) and I think that has to be the worst referee football game I have ever seen. All told, the referees took away 18 points from the Seahawks (7 for D-Jack's 'offensive pass interference, 7 for the stupid hold they called on ( Read more... )

no joke. on ESPN.com, there's a poll asking what people will remember most about Super Bowl XL (Xtra Lame): Bettis Winning then Retiring, Bill Cowher winning a superbowl, Willie Parker's 75 yard TD run, Randle El's TD pass, or bad officiating. Bad refereeing is winning at 39% of the votes over Bettis winning and retiring (32%). Not only Seattle is mad about the craptasic screw-job the referees pulled over the Seahawks.

all the announcers were up in their booth saying things like "hm... that's an...interesting call" and "wtf!"

even at half-time they were like "hawks are out playing steelers, hands down"

everyone knows something weird was going on w/ those refs

yeah and those announcers were John Madden, Steve Young, and Michael Irvin (and Irvin should know about the "pushoff" he got away with alot more when he played for the Cowboys). If anybody would know about that kind of stuff, it would be those guys who have spent their entire life in football.

yeah that and the "low block" they called on Hasselbeck. If you watch the replay, he doesn't even touch the other blockers, but tackles the player with the ball. It's like "oh, he was close so we'll give you 15 free yards after taking away a touchdown like 2 plays earlier"
