Before the Plague

Donna and Roy are finally married. Whoever cooked up the buffet is to be commended, and now there is music.

The bride and groom have had their first dance and the band plays on. For once, all things seem in the prefect order. Between that, and Roy's words, Connor gets a little bold.

"Hey, Mia? Um...how good are you at dancing?"

"I'm good enough to keep in time with the beat. Why?" She sounds so innocent in asking that last question but she has to make him say it.

It's just a dance, Connor. Get a grip. Pretend it's katas or something.

"I'd like to dance..." He stops himself. "Sorry. I'd like to dance with you, Mia."

Conner gets a very real and genuine smile at that. "I'd love to dance with you." a pause, "Shall we?" Mia gestures to the dance floor still smiling.

Why is his throat dry? He's already watched the patterns of the others. This isn't some complex technique, and he's not having to stand between Shiva and something she wants.

Breathe. It's Mia. You won't fall down, you're too well trained for that.

He puts his hand around her waist and leads her out.

"I've been watching the others. I think I can manage this."
