I think we need to come up with another name for original music inspired by the Harry Potter books, because there seems to be much more out there than what I would classify as "wizard rock." Take this, for example - a song called "Peverell Story" that is clearly inspired by old English ballads and is one of the more brilliant pieces of fan

Wizard rock is just another version of filk music, which has been around since the 50s. This song is closer to true filk than wizard rock is.

oh, that's one of Lena's songs!! I love her voice, and she's written some wonderful music. whoever combined it with the animation is a genius.

it's funny, I think most people hear the term 'wizard rock' and only think of Harry and the Potters - the slightly silly, guitar-focused filk-ish songs. which is okay, but there's so much more out there; people are writing music in all kinds of genres and there's so much talent (I think). this is a perfect example. :)
