DH Casting - Family Matters ;)

So, apparently an actress has been cast to play Mrs. Granger in the Deathly Hallows film. I guess there's going to be an added scene with Hermione's parents, perhaps when she modifies their memories? I have to say I kind of like that idea. In the book, we get a good sense of what's at stake for Harry and Ron, but it's only when we see the hella ( Read more... )

Oh, yes! I have to say, this was one scene that I really wanted to see in the books. Over the years, we never really hear that much about Hermione's relationship with her parents, what she's told them about Harry and Voldemort, etc. etc. and I always wanted to see more of that. Yay!

Yes! Though I fear some in the anti-Kloves brigade will call it more obsessing over his beloved Hermione. It may not be as big a deal as I'm imagining, but this is just more attention to detail that I'm exceedingly glad is happening for the last movie.

I don't mind the focus on Hermione when it's something that really develops her as a character and doesn't take away from another character's development.

I haven't really been that up to date with HP news... has there been anything else interesting that's going on with the last movie?

Not too much. I was pleased to hear that they picked Eduardo Serra (Girl With a Pearl Earring, What Dreams May Come) to be the cinematographer, which sounds very promising indeed. They set release dates for both films - Nov. 10, 2010 for Part 1 and July 15, 2011 for Part 2. A few weeks ago they announced casting for Reg Cattermole. And - I don't know how far behind on the DH news you are, but this is a couple months old and excited me beyond measure - Toby Jones is coming back to do the voice of Dobby.

Oh, I'm glad to hear that! That was the first (of many) scenes that made me cry in the book - Hermione, being so grown up and ruthless and dedicated.

I loved Hermione so much in DH, and that was one of many reasons why.

Well, with some characters (like Peeves) the damage was done long ago (my gosh, would I have loved to see whatever they had for Rik Mayall to do in SS that ended up being cut), and it would be pointless to bring them into it now. As for Dung ... I can see them bringing him in as a new character actually. If they don't they'll have to come up with some other way for Snape to have been in on the decision to move Harry at that particular time.

Ah well, there will be plenty of time to obsess over all this as the script details start trickling out over the next 14 months. :D

for the love of GOD, Harry, PLEASE turn on the lights if you have to go into the kitchen after dark!

Now we know the TRUE reason why Hermione had to erase her memory!

Oooh, I wonder who they'll get to play Mr. Granger? It's got to be Jean-Claude Van Damme!
