I actually don't like this movie. Well, I don't like Helen Hunt and Jack Nicholson in this movie. (I thought for the longest time I didn't like it because I saw it when I was five months pregnant, and it was the first time I was able to leave the house for more than an hour or two with out needing to get sick from morning sickness, and the movie just seemed to be going on FOR-EV-ER and I thought my bladder was going to burst. But then I saw it again a few years later and I still didn't really like it.)

I felt like Helen Hunt was essentially playing an unlikeable version of Jamie Buchman. (Which, Helen Hunt essentially played in the last few seasons of Mad About You.) And I felt like Jack Nicholson was just being himself, which wasn't really a stretch, and he didn't really deserve an Oscar for. (He was up against someone else that year, who I really wanted to win, but I can't remember who at the moment ( ... )

He was up against Matt Damon, Robert Duvall, Peter Fonda, and Dustin Hoffman that year (I remember it because it was the "old dudes" and Matt Damon :P). I was rooting for Robert Duvall, personally, but I'm not sorry Nicholson got it. I thought it was a very different role for him - he was playing his age for once. :P

I fucking LOVE this movie! I'm really not of the romcom make, but this is so full of snark and sarcasm and reality that I kind of forget about the rom bit and just love it :D

I like this movie. It's been a while since I've seen it, though. I did once have a guy use that compliment on me. It was rather cliched, but it still made me feel all warm and fuzzy for a while.

I like this movie, but I don't love it. It's a bit too mannered for me, I think. But Greg Kinnear and the dog are ♥ ♥ ♥

P.S. Finally saw It Happened One Night tonight. Two thumbs up!
