they really need to hurry up and figure out this malaria thing.
not that i want south africa to be left in the dust, but much of south africa's developed-ness has everything to do with the fact that there's no malaria in 80% of the country. [as far as percentage of population, it's closer to 90%].
no more malaria in nigeria, and it will be "south who"?
I know there is a lot of research out there (finally) but what the solution turns out to be, I'm not sure. It's true, it's a huge drain on productivity.

There are vaccines being developed, but presumably on different tacks - but this could be a big plus for that and new drug development.
