In a nutshell, Genkaku strongly reminds Hakkai of a character named Banri, a former friend/roommate of Gojyo's. Banri used Gojyo to get himself out of a life-or-death situation, essentially trading Gojyo's life for his own, with no regard to their previous friendship (or 'friendship', as the manga is kind of sketchy on whether or not their relationship could even be termed that). He sees a lot of Banri in Genkaku - a man who has no care for anyone but himself, and who will use everyone he comes into contact with until they are no longer of use to him, and then discard them with no warning or emotion. So in short, he doesn't like him, he doesn't trust him, and wouldn't have any problem killing him if the opportunity presented itself. (Uh, 'cos he's not jealous or anything either, no. >.>)
