Okay, about that Ukulele Gang gig. ("Gig." Heh. Listen to me.)

As I mentioned in the previous posts, dawnnegus made a point of specifically including me in an invitation to the Halifax Ukulele Gang, even though I have only gone to one of their meetings. The group that showed up turned out to be partly composed of longtime Gang members and partly of ( Read more... )

That sounds like a TON of fun. And cool! You're on Youtube. It's like being on a neighbourhood news broadcast that goes ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Huh. I wish someone had told me today was CAPSLOCK Monday.

Yes, you could. And a starter Mahalo will only set you back twenty-five or thirty dollars, so what are you waiting for?

Unfortunately, I've been informed in no uncertain words, that although learning to play the guitar this winter would be perfectly acceptable, learning the ukelele will get me disowned. *pouts* Younger sisters are tyranical.

Oh, your sister doesn't know what she's missing. I plan to pull a George Harrison this Christmas and give ukes to everyone I know!

I think she's just trying to keep me from being even dorkier than I already am. At least in her eyes. I happen to think Banjoes and ukeleles are awesome.

That's very sweet of you to say that the 2 ladies from the Valley were proficient . . . but I can't let you go on thinking that Valley Ukers are any more proficient than you from the city. We tuned to D-6 tuning (A D F# B starting from the string nearest your nose) so that the chords were dead easy - way too easy. I felt for those of you who had to barre the Bmin while I only had to use my index finger on the 4th string (2nd fret - string nearest your nose). Anyway, it was indeed a blast and we were sorry not to have stayed 'til the bitter end but the ole gals had places to go, people to see, contracts to sign . . . you know how it is for us "session musicians"; our job was done :)
Thanks again for the compliments!

Well, you ladies certainly looked and sounded like you knew what you were doing. I was careful not to look at your hands because I knew that would mess me up! It was great fun playing with you and I hope we see each other at future Ukulele Gang events--now that I know how much fun they are you'll never get rid of me. :)
