Queer fest time!!!

Mar 20, 2012 16:52

queer_fest is back!  The prompts are for a variety of fandoms and there are plenty of "any character" (under A) so you can grab a prompt for your favorite fandom.  The stories are supposed to be 1,000 words long or more and basically deal with living a queer life whether LBGT, transgender, asexual, poly...  whatever.  There are so many interesting posts that ( Read more... )

Ooh, there's so many pretty Sherlock prompts that I want to try my hand out so I may give this a go.
(Also, I really want to see your take on Sherlock, if only for the undoubtedly epic backstories.)

Would you believe that back stories aren't part of most of my fic? I would not blame you for doubting me but it's true! Unless the story is specifically about the past, i don't usually do the big back stories when I'm not writing for the Boosh. There's something that calls to me about their conflicting stories.

No Sherlock and Mycroft histories? That's just cruel :P
But I do understand what you mean - the Boosh backstory is just too insane to resist messing around with.

Don't try and make me think about Sherlock's childhood! I don't need to write a 40,000 word Sherlock epic. ( I just posted Helena on AO3, it's just short of 40,000. There is something wrong with me.)

Ooooh, thanks for mentioning this! I might have to explore this, especially with all those "any character" prompts. I love Sherlock, and Sherlock fic, and I beta for it, but I have no pull to write it myself. I'm so looking forward to your take on it, though--and Jeeves and Wooster, too! Gosh, you like all the best fandoms. ;-)

There were so many that work for Booshiness. There's even one that's something about everyone thinking your comedy partner is "the gay one".

I have read no Sherlock fic and am keeping it that way until I write one. I've read Sherlock Holmes fan fic but I only recently saw the BBC Sherlock.

I wrote a Jeeves & Wooster fic last year that isn't smutty (honsetly, there just wasn't time!) but I think it's pretty cute if you get bored. http://concupiscence66.livejournal.com/tag/jeeves%20and%20wooster This time I'm doind third person POV because of the prompt AND so I don't have to torture myself trying to mimic the brilliant style of Wodehouse.

Wouldn't Bertie and Vince be chums? Friendly guys who just want to dress nice and make people happy. Vince could be in the Drones. Maybe that needs to be a crossover.

Probably a good idea to keep yourself untainted until you've written your Sherlock fic. I'm just really looking forward to your take on the BBC verse!

I can't wait to read the J&W fic! And ha, yes, you're absolutely right: Bertie and Vince would be fast friends. They're both wonderfully sweet, sensitive, people-pleasing fops--and I dare say they'd be the two nicest members the Drones ever had. Jeeves would probably cringe at Vince's fashion sense, but heartily approve of Bertie finally having a friend who's as kind as he is and who wouldn't take total advantage of him.

...That could be kind of an amazing crossover, actually. I never thought about the parallels until now!

I re-read my story and I think Bertie is Vince's great, great grandson. Not literally, of course. Bertie was clearly a confirmed bachelor. It's funny how those archetypes exist in the double act. Imagine Howard as Jeeves. He'd be the worst valet ever. Vince would have to make all his own drinks while Howard tried to write a great novel. He'd be giving away Vince's sequined jumpsuits and trying to put him in tweed.

Shoot, some of those TBBT I'm already writing - I should grab them!

And I blame YOU for the Boosh writing I'm doing. (And I blame the Boosh for me and the wife having watched "Eels" about fifteen times in the last week!)

Yay! Sign-up! I really like this event.

I'm so happy to have lured you to the Boosh! It's such a fun fandom for the slash girl, no lack of inspiration. Eels is one of my husband's personal favorites. I remember the first time we watched it, he was saying he should go at the Hitcher for halloween and we were wondering what I would dress as and then Rich walkes out dressed as a sexy, sexy woman! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I am so looking forward to seeing what you've written!

I am absolutely in love with Elanor!!! I actually have to give the credit for Boosh intros to my wife, who showed me Killeroo when I was in Aussie-land - she just kills herself over that one. We just sort of left it after that, unfortunately. I am glad you got us back into it - I am in effing love with Saboo, too, and the Shaman Council!

I do not know what to do with my Boosh piece. *sigh* I'm going to go read more of yours (even have the wife reading it!)...

Yay! I like to bring families together with my high brow fiction. Boosh is something the hubby and I do together as well. We laugh together at the funny parts while I not-so- secretly wait for the slashy bits. We can watch "The Party" over and over and over.
