i LOVE it!! this story's booshiness has definitely been cranked up a few notches. "the Church of Perpetually Getting Involved with Monsters and Other Fairytale Creatures" made me laugh out loud because it so perfectly describes howard's life, even if his family were only 'sunday occultists.' howard's nan seems to be quite a character - i get the feeling she and saboo would get along well. poor howard though! looking forward to seeing how he gets out of this, and away from eleanor before there's another curse! or was it a prophecy?
If I quoted every line that made me grin in delight, I'd be quoting most of your chapter! This is amazingly funny, but also has some genius world-building. I LOVE the idea of Howard's family being this linchpin of paranormal activity, and the idea of Vince treating it as normal -- and how helpful that attitude is to Howard -- is so sweet.
I think my favorite line was Vince assuming the vampire was avoiding carbs, not garlic ;-)
Other favorite bits: -Demon!Vince using mirror balls as "mood lighting" -Demon!Vince suggesting he and real Vince take narcissism to its logical conclusion -“Never buy popcorn from the kiosk near the chameleon boudoir.” -Howard's nan brushing aside the married-to-a-monster stuff to harp about grandbabies, Ha! -“Howard no have registry and Bollo no like giving gift cards. Too impersonal,” adds Bollo, helpful as always.
I just love how you brought everyone together for Howard's deepest fear, which is so wonderfully Howard-ish and Booshy!
