[ Egypt arrives at the gate prepared for battle! He's got his service rifle slung over his shoulder and an additional handgun holstered at his waist. Any and all pockets in his cadet uniform are packed with extra bullets. He didn't know how many he'd need, but what he was able to afford probably won't be enough. ]

Vanille. [ He's nodding hello, but not doing much else. Sup. He still can't believe she actually wants to do this. ]

[ Vanille immediately breaks away from the pack and, running in her usual arm-swinging fashion, makes a break for- predictably- a patch of wild flowers growing nearby. ]

[ Egypt doesn't run after her, but he does follow, glancing back at the others before doing so. Does she have to make it to the fire cavern at a specific time, or can she just go whenever she wants? ]

[ Before she can run through them, Vanille stops herself and crouches down, smiling as she admires them. There are plenty of flowers she's seen in Garden, but... It's been a while since she's seen actual wildflowers like this. She turns slightly to look over her shoulder at him. ]

Pretty, huh?

[ She won't detour long... She just needed a moment, maybe to calm her head. She was worried about screwing up, after all. Flowers proved the perfect distraction. ]
