Oh, what a dress!

In my opinion, the best part about shopping for wedding dresses isn't actually going to a store and putting them on (definitely not!) or even finding the absolute perfect dress (it's a different kind of fun), it's being subjected to ridiculously bad web-design, and galleries full of incredibly elaborate, absolutely hideous wedding dresses.  After ( Read more... )

The top hat makes the ensemble, definitely.

I found that I rather enjoyed flipping through the scary wedding magazines and websites, as long as I approached it with the idea that a lot of the stuff would be utterly ridiculous. :) I pretended I was an anthropologist studying the "wedding tribe".

yes! I actually located a store that, although they didn't stock #734, were very friendly about it, and said they'd happily get one for me to try on, just give them a week to borrow the designer's travelling sample dress. I tried and liked it, and they didn't give me any flak about the dreadfully short 3 months till the wedding, so I ordered it from them.

not ordered from here, but that's the picture: http://www.chicbridal.com/Bonny/734.htm

Ha! I could totally see the burlesque wedding. In fact, I would love to see that photo on a movie poster, with a few other characters from the show. Her pose is almost dance-y enough already...

This makes me realize that my main problem with shopping was that I wanted a dress, and they were offering me "bride costumes".

I had K pick up some bridal mags from Sweden (where we hope they had better taste, but no, the mainstream was just as bad there). Oh, the horror!! :)
