Character: Jack (aka Computer Jack)
Series:
GONECharacter Age: 12
Canon: One normal school day, everyone over the age of fourteen in Peridido Beach, California, disappeared in the blink of an eye. The remaining youths are trapped inside of an impenetrable barrier that surrounds their town and a scant 20 miles beyond it. No parents, no rules, and a giant nuclear power plant at the center of it all-what could possibly go wrong? Well, basically everything. It’s bad enough that the children are trapped in the FAYZ (Fallout Alley Youth Zone) and trying to survive the usual anarchy that comes from a lack of authority, but it gets worse. The animals all start mutating, causing a deadly threat to the children. Even some of the kids have mutated, developing strange powers that they can’t always control. But don’t worry, I’m sure it’s just a FAYZ they’re going through.
One of the FAYZ’s new mutants is Jack, also known as Computer Jack. In case his name didn’t give it away, he’s a computer genius with a love for silicon, the internet, and all things technology. But that’s not his mutant power: he’s got super strength. Because he views himself as more of a brain than the strong man, he forgets that he has his powers and causes quite a mess. He’s socially awkward in most every situation-except when he’s talking about computers, when he gets extremely pedantic towards his audience. The awkward stages of puberty have left him with no idea how to deal with girls, so he ends up doing anything they tell him to. He is surprisingly self-conscious and hates it when people think he’s failed. Despite his many flaws, Jack is a very loyal person and would do anything to protect those he cares about.

Alright, let’s get started-oh, shoot, not again! That’s the second computer I’ve destroyed today! I can’t get anything done like this. I should suggest that the director invest in electronics that can withstand super strength. Otherwise I won’t be able to do a thing.
So the director asked me to make a Wiki for this place, and since I was planning on making one anyways I might as well get it over with. Wikis are really easy once you get the basic HMTL format down, and I had that memorized by the time I was eight. And, uh, if the director trusts me enough to have me set up this whole “Camp Wiki Or Die” Wiki by myself, then I shouldn’t let her down. It would make me a laughingstock. And she was nice enough to give me a second computer when I accidentally broke the first, and a third just in case; I don’t know why people can’t stand her, she seems really nice. For a girl, you know. Plus, if the director can really give me that large capacity router that she promised...oh man, an actual large capacity router, that would be the Holy Grail of our internal computer systems...then of course I’d be motivated enough to have this done by dinner. That’s something only an idiot would turn down.
I’m just running into a few small problems. It’s nothing I can’t handle! Don’t underestimate me, I can still get it done before the deadline. But, uhm, I’m not sure how to categorize some of these things. Should I put the “Fire-breathing Vampire Ducklings” under “Vampires” or “Ducks” or “Undead animals that have mutated to breathe fire”? And the Wiki seems to want to automatically put the squirrels under “Animals that creep on Campers.” Why is there even a category for that? I didn’t set it up. If someone’s messing with my system I’m going to put a stop to it.
Speaking of “Animals that creep on Campers,” it seems like almost every animal listed is in there. And someone named Marcy. There must be some kind of bug, because there’s no way all of them should be under there. Right? Especially flying sharks. Those can’t creep, they fly, duh. Not that I expect a shark to be able to fly-Oh my God!
...Okay, I take it back, that’s a flying shark alright. So that would definitely go under “Animals that creep on Campers.” I just hope they don’t travel in schools…n-nice flying sharky?
