Word Icon Won't Change

Question/Problem:

My WORD icon has gone *poof* and does not seem to want to return. The stupid default icon shows up for all my .doc/.docx/any Word document-type file. See image:

I believe you do the 3rd option you mentioned, click restore, and then click Advance and you should be able to select your icon that way. ^^

Yep, I clicked restored and then advance and chose the program, but still nothing. :(

Have you restarted? That will sometimes correct icon issues.
You can remove the association from the registry completely and then open a .doc file. Windows will tell you it does not know what to do with that file type and it will let you choose. Choose winword and check the "Use this application for all documents of this type" and it should rebuild the icon that way.

If it is just the shortcut for Word (the program) and not for all the documents, too, then just delete it and make a new one.

I've restarted a million times. Lol.

So to remove the association, would I just delete it from the File Types place?

It won't let me delete it, the option isn't available for the .doc or .docx file types.
