I'm glad that you're taking a step out of your usual. All I see here are a few grammar errors I suppose, and since it's something out of norm for you to right, the first chapter isn't as promising as one might think. But it's not bad c:

The writing is good and the story seems to have a nice start as well. Though I think you may want to take up a little more character study on Leit. Also the dialog is somewhat familiar to me. Reminds me halflight007's writing, the work on "A Time of Amnesty and Grace" specifically.

Long story short, I see that there'd be a lot more room for improvement concerning this story. But I'm happy that you wanted to take the plunge with something different c:
