new rule?

if posting an image, post behind a cut.
if posting an image, don't make it link to anything.
if posting an image from scrapbook, ok to link to PicturePage.

i'd rather not be linked to an ad-infested page, kthx.

edit: what services do you use and what are their properties? let's make a list.

yeah. if it's linking to anything it should be the fullsize image or a scrapbook PicturePage.

if the service you're using doesn't allow direct linking to the image (such as imageshack, i think) don't use it.

i guess this means we've gotta go through all those services to find which ones do what.

You can choose to use the thumbnail or the full image with ImageShack. I actually don't mind the thumbnails but I understand your POV and it's good.

thumbnails are fine, i guess, but still behind a cut.
links directly to the image.
i hate it when they put adverts for the hosting site in the alt/title tags. that's just tacky.

I use photobucket, I think they're the absolute greatest. That I know of, of course.

and they apparently hard-code a link back to their site if you use their html code snippet. might also have alt/title text which is another ad for the site. not very intelligent to me.

one or more of those sites also shrink the image which renders a screenshot useless.
