Let me just start this off by saying that I'm not an emotional person. I don't cry at books or films. I get embarrassed very easily by other people in public. I like to keep my 'feelings' and whatever to myself ( Read more... )

grrrrr, linkies, thoughts on stuff

Do people actually have whole long conversations where they admit their long-time feelings and make declarations of love?

i wonder about this too, because to get me to talk about my feelings is kind of like visiting the dentist: you don't want to be there, the dentist doesn't want to be there and there is a lot of owies involved (and that you preferably don't want to hand over a few hundred dollars for a measly filling).

and in my limited experience - ergo my brother, boys rarely if ever talk about feelings unless they implicitly trust you enough, or they're one of the emotional types. and even when they are emotional, it's not as say, er, as detailed as anything i would expect a girl would say, i guess? this is generalising like woah, though >_>

i do know what you mean. i like the boys to sound like boys.

however i have known guys (and girls) who span the spectrum on talkative=>clams so i really couldn't generalise.

Yeah, I don't like to generalise or anything. I just haven't really known people overly emotional.

Yeah- we actually do /o\- and I'm sorry peeps- it is NOT just a "girl" thing - (I HATE when people say things like that- it's the 21st century let's let go of our gender stereotypes plz?) I have known some pretty emotional guys, and some pretty stoic girls.

Everybody is different and has their own comfort zone. I love emotional fic- it's why I'm a fan of romance novels and fantasy. I'm afraid you really are going to see alot of it in bandom and it's not going to go away because slash fic generally IS romance fic - and that's about emotion! I cannot imagine wanting less feeling in a fic O.O ( ... )

Ugh, I know what you mean. I feel the same way when I watch a lot of films. I'd much rather the dialogue felt plausible - that people were fumbling through their romantic declarations, that there were awkward pauses and that sometimes things didn't always come out right - than have the perfect moments. Even more so with bandom, because, seriously? Ryan Ross, for all that I love his artistic, bony body, doesn't seem like he'd be the smoothest when it comes to discussing feelings, you know?

Yes! I want the awkward! I want awkward!Ryan tries to tell Jon that he likes him with Spencer & Brendon spying and laughing at him around the corner. ;) Or just, you know, awkward fic in general.
