It positively amazes me how often Eric Goldman from IGN pretty much nails my feelings about each episode.

I'm not surprised the reviews for this episode was so mixed. I think it's a case of concept episode overload.

I posted the review roundup a lot earlier than usual this morning, so I decided to go round up a few more.

Jocelyn W, TV Equals:
Although I loved the idea of Mitch Hurwitz appearing on Community in theory, Koog was not exactly my favorite part of the episode. Additionally, the conflict between Jeff and Shirley felt a bit redundant. It’s been well established that both characters are master manipulators in very different ways. I find them working together towards mischief much more entertaining than the two of them in conflict.

Finally Alan Sepinwall, HitFix:
But aside from "Arrested Development" creator Mitch Hurwitz's guest performance as party-loving Koogler, this is one that felt more clever than funny most of the time. Troy's farewell episode did a better job of blending jokes in with the homages and world-building, and doing two of these kinds of stories in the space of four episodes - even if there was an Olympics break in the middle - is probably too much.

Thank you for posting these additional reviews.

A lot of critics didn't like this one. They didn't seem to hate it, but I think in some cases it only rated as high as it did because Dan Harmon.
