I really didn't like this episode :/ This Changnesia story line sucks IMO. I loved the previous doc episodes so this was just really flat. The Troy + Annie teaming up was new, the rest we'd seen from the study group before.
But you know what I want if we ever get six seasons and a movie? I'd like to see an episode where Abed tries to teach Britta how to make a documentary. That would be hilarious...if it's well written.
I agree that this was one of the worst episodes of the season so far. I think everything they had to do to make the Changnesia storyline work were the things that took away from the episode. There were some great one-liners, Shirley was amazing (as always), and I really like the Troy-Annie team...but it just wasn't a great episode. Here's hoping the next new episode is better.
I agree, I don't want Community to turn into a Zombie show. Well if worst comes to worst, we could always do what I did with Buffy and pretend it was tragically canceled after season three.
Weird. I've found the show a bit off with "History 101" and "Alternate History of the German Invasion," thought "Paranormal Parentage" was great but found "Conventions" to be a compete disaster and for the Thanksgiving episode to be strangely lifeless -- but this episode felt like vintage Dan Harmon to me. All the jokes made me laugh, from Troy and Annie's partnership to Jeff accidentally getting the Dean his grant. I found Kevin strangely lovable and sweet and the ending was heartbreaking. And the bit where he dramatically throws his phone away, then runs back to pick it up -- that felt so distinctly Harmonesque to me.
It was a sweet and touching episode that's revealed to have a darker undercurrent and I really liked it.
That said, I wonder if by the study group acceptance of "Kevin" with open arms will make Chang "change" his mind about them, and at the end helping/joining them in the study group...maybe?
I think that if people try to enjoy Community this season alone, not comparing them with each and every episode from the previous seasons, we could all enjoy the good things that the episodes of season 4 do have, there are still good things, IMHO.
The amazing cast and crew of Community are the best, and they work hard on it, they always do.
I know we all think City College is behind Chang's plan. And that is probably true. But wouldn't it be great if that was a total misdirect? And if you don't like the Changnesia storyline, Megan Ganz said you're in for a rough ride, because there's a lot of it this season.
The editing pace is starting to get back on track and the new writers are staring to find their own way.
Wow, thank you. I thought everyone forgot the three seconds of Chang with Dean Spreck at the end of season 3.
Anyone disliking this story line is just being nonsensical. It's addressing their last year with something epic, a final story with Greendale Community College in case they get a season 5. It's gonna be good.
While I haven't been as negative as some about Season 4 and found many episodes to be good with points of greatness, it's fair to dislike storylines. Not everyone will like what you like.
While I'm intrigued by the Changnesia, I can't say I'm all that keen to see Chang try to blow up Greendale again. Maybe Kevin is pretending to be Chang to protect his new home. Maybe City College performed some kind of sleeper agent conditioning on Chang and the Kevin personality is a genuine identity that will go to war with Chang for control. Maybe Chang is trying to redeem himself and he's tricked City College into thinking he's on their side. I'm hoping it's more complex than another round with Chang as a villain.

Well DAMN. I have never been a fan of the Chang story lines and the episodes centered on him have always been my least favorite. Blah.
