I think Abed's just afraid to lose his friend. I agree with Annie because she knows that people can progress in their own lives AND still keep their friends. Abed's kind of an 'all or nothing' kind of guy. He thinks if Troy has to split his time between him and Britta that he'll lose out in the end. This, hopefully, was disproved in the finale when Troy hugged him first.

Agreed, and I wanted to add that Abed's fears aren't so unfounded - but Troy and Britta don't seem like the type who'd turn into That Couple, and they're both Abed's friends. However, in TV shows and movies romance usually takes precedence, and as that's how Abed views human behavior... yikes, no wonder the guy was worried.

I think this episode is quintessential Community, in that it's meta and pop culture-y and not particularly accessible to a casual viewer, but once you look past all of that there's so much heart and sincerity and relatability. (Firefox's spell check tells me relatability isn't a word. Whatever, I just made it up, then.) It reminds me a lot of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons in that regards. I honestly think that if anyone, fan or not, has watched this episode and still thinks Community is a show that's weird for the sake of being weird, then they've never known what it's like to not fit in ( ... )
