SANARA SINISTRA: 23 January 1942

Feb 02, 2006 21:27

Dearest Father,

I do understand the war against Grindewald is complicated, both politically and strategically. Do the Germans have any real idea where he might be? I was merely seeking some reassurance, and meaningless as it might be. I know you’re doing everything you can, that everyone is. But the newspaper reports do not always make it clear ( Read more... )

*sits next to Sanara at lunch, nodding briefly to Minerva before turning to Sanara*

Hello. Would you pass the pumpkin juice, please?

*grins* You did very well in Transfigurations this morning.

I've no idea what classes they're taking but I'm guessing they are in all or most of them together. I also don't know how Sanara is at Transfiguration, so I tried to leave it open to interpretation as far as that's concerned...

*passes pumpkin juice*

I did really well, today. Minerva helped me make sure the turtles are green. But I managed to turn them into tortoises today.

This is fourth year, yes? Sanara's okay at Transfiguration, but a little slow getting it all together in her head.
Her dinner-plate turtles two weeks ago were blue. Minerva tutors her a bit.

Thank you.
*pours, then offers to fill Sanara's glass*

*grins* At least they were green feet!

Is it all set then, with your father? I am very much looking forward to meeting him.

*nods for juice*
Thanks.

I think so. I should get a reply from him next week confirming the details, but it should all work out.
I think you'll like him.

I keep worrying about the language I use in these conversations. *shakes head at own daftness*

Oh the love I have for this letter! The historical details and her concern about Eddie and the one line about marriage ceremonies! I love that line. *hugs* Lovely work!

*turns around in the owlery from where she's just finished lecturing three first year Ravenclaws on why gobstones should attempted to be given as owl treats*
*sees Sanara and rolls her eyes as she shoos them out*
Really, I can't imagine ever being as daft as those first years. If I didn't know better, I'd be convinced that Headmaster Dippet was sending letters to seven year olds.

*smiles*
How are you? Letter to your father?

Thanks. Eddie's six and a half here. I worked out. He can write back to her on his own now. It kind of freaked me out a bit.

*smiles back*

I'm well.
Father wrote back. He would like to meet Tom. I think we'll probably have lunch at Hogsmeade in February. Wouls you like to join us?

If seven year olds were getting letters, that means Eddie would be coming next year.

Awww! Yay though!

*smiles and ducks her hand as an owl comes swooping past*
Oh that's lovely. I haven't seen your father in some time with everything happening, so I'd love to have lunch with you as long as no one minds. I'm certain I could keep myself occupied if Tom would rather meet with him on his own.

*small chuckle*
He's six already? I can't believe it.
*sobers*
I imagine it would be nice to have him here with you.

Do join us for lunch. We could look in some of hte shops after, if father and Tom are going to be discussing death rituals.

*grin*
Neither could I. Two months and he's seven.
If he were here I would worry about him deciding to explore the forest. And he can keep me abreast of news at home.
I think father likes having him in the house. He livens it, I'm sure.

*makes a bit of a face* Why does it seem like there are always Hogsmeade weekends on Valentine's Day?

Ted is still smarting from his failed engagement attempt on Valentine's Day and is feeling a bitter, methinks.

I suppose if they, that's when the schedule them.
It's only going to be once every eleven years. Well, that it's Saturday. It will on Sunday next year, and they may reschedule the day then.

I actually looked up the calendar for 1942. Very geeky. I didn't want it to be Valentine's day - but it actually was.
Poor Ted. They didn't actually break up, though, did they?

*still looking slightly put out* It always seems to be on Valentine's Day. And then there's all this terrible pressure to live up to expectations but not too many expectations because then you're just going through the motions and you don't really care and-

I hate Valentine's Day.

Ha, really? That IS geeky but also very cool.
No, they didn't. He was just all jazzed up to actually propose and then bailed out at the last second. And he's mad at himself about it.

The story behind is all about honour and dying, anyway. There are much better things to celebrate in February.
Like the fact that the snow is going to melt. We just have to have another snowball fight, rather than let it go to waste.

*nervous*
The next Hogsmeade holiday is on Valentine's day? Are you sure, Sanara?

Absolutely. I had to check with Minerva and Tom if they had plans that would clash with the proposed meeting with my father.

Are you disappointed?

I wikipedia'd the calendar for 1942. I didn't want it to be Valentine's day, but it was.
I'll have to check my past letters, but I think I had you marry Elizabeth Prewett - Molly Weasley's aunt. That was certainly my plan.

*tries to hide a grin*
Disappointed? Erm...No, not at all.

Thanks, Sanara. See you later!

*runs to the Owlery*

Wow, I'm impressed.

No, he won't marry Elizabeth Prewett, sorry. His parents have a pretty high-born pureblood heiress setup for him, but he won't marry her either.

*blinks at his retreating back*

*gets it, and smiles, a little whistful*

Well, then. I look forward to those letters.
