I'm often on LJ these days but didn't notice a thing. Do they still have that thing where users are distributed across the globe into sections, and some of those sections don't go down while others go flaky?

Not sure. I was trying from several different places and was sometimes lucky sometimes not. I guess you just happened to get lucky.

Several of them would have been deleted and the authors would have removed you from their friends lists.
