Well, there's my thing. If the Master is the Doctor except reversed? He's not going to have any of those niggling problems with 'domestic' or really fierce loyalty to one 'Companion'. I think his trust issues would demand it of him. Lucy just seems like the perfect match to that - not a counterpoint like Rose was - but someone who gets into the horrible, horrible things he does.
