Shore Leave

Sep 18, 2007 00:18

A shore leave, Sparrow had decided, was in order, and so when he had gone off to do... whatever it was he was doing, James had set about helping the crew to unload the necessities, and he himself had gone belowdecks to make sure that all the supplies and victuals housed therein had not been upset by the storm.  One of the barrels of fresh water had ( Read more... )

They're anchored and the Pearl has a scratch, what is needing to be fixed and soon in Jack's mind, and there's not much left to do now. His captaining skills are no longer in need. Not so hard this whole captaining business after all. Might just the perfect time for a drink. He's about to wander off in search of another bottle of rum when a something gets in his way ( ... )

James can almost smile at Sparrow's obvious disappointment at the company the woman (and what on earth is her name?) has brought with her, but he keeps his expression neutral- perhaps vaguely scornful- as Gibbs shrugs stolidly, clapping Jack on the shoulder in a comradely manner ( ... )

He really doesn't want to be doing this. Really, really, really doesn't want to be. Because he knows, or thinks he knows anyway, that since Gibbs now knows he's told Anamaria and this is all some daft scheme to work it out between the four of them and bugger. Bugger, bugger, bugger.

Jack grins mischeivously when Anamaria mentions experienced and opens his mouth to add some horrible double-meaning to that just to see if she actually knows. But then she does that glaring thing she does so well, and Jack quite literally bites his tongue. And tries hard not to pout ( ... )

The woman departs with one final glare (does she have any other expression?) and Gibbs follows her a moment later with a disturbingly knowing look at Sparrow and himself. James feels a momentary surge of panic in his breast that Gibbs knows, knows that he and Jack- he and Sparrow are... whatever, have done... what they did before he quenches it viciously. Of course he knows- or at least suspects. After all, it wasn't in the normal course of duties for the First Mate to spend hours alone in the captain's cabin with the captain. He shakes his head. That is not the business of now. Instead, he turns on Sparrow with a vaguely quizzical look.

'Coconuts?' He asks, amusement lacing every syllable. 'You seem dreadfully enthusiastic about going to search for coconuts, I must say.'

What he doesn't mention is the fact that Sparrow has very conspicuously got rid of the other two people there, leaving the two of them alone. This could mean several things, and James is really not sure how he feels about any of them.

I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about. I've not asserted anything for you to disagree with.
