If you've spent any amount of time here on comment_fic, you know we have a few issues in the area of Lonely Prompts. For any given day we have lots of prompts that go unwritten and end up in our Lonely Prompts index

I'm leaning towards "only do three prompts unless you answer a prompt" but I still voted for "suggesting restraint." If restraint doesn't work, I think limiting the prompts unless you reply would be a great solution.

I think a time limit on the prompts would be the best way to deal with the huge leftovers, but maybe keep the prompts for a month, instead of just the month they were posted? Otherwise lonely prompts from the last week of the month will be thrown out with ones from the first week.

Does that make sense? Would it be too much work?

Also Saturdays and Sundays as lonely prompt days would be good. Five days of prompting a week is more than enough!

I'd rather not see a restriction on x number of prompts per day per person, as sometimes the themes just don't really spark anything in my head...and other days they do! :)

I'm trying to broaden my fandom horizons, honest! Lol.

Unfortunately, I know people who HAVE checked out the daily posts and came back to me and said "You know what, I don't write porn, so I'm going to pass" and they don't ever return. Plus, we still get people who start their reply to a prompt with "Sorry this isn't porny, but..." which is really just sad, because they've gotten the impression that non-porn isn't going to be accepted/liked as well as porn.

I'll be honest. Most of what I write here for prompts usually isn't porn. And, as a mod, I STILL feel like it SHOULD be porn, because I know the impression the title/banner is giving to people. I guess it's kind of a catch-22 no matter what the title/banner says.

Bite sized bits of 'fic' would work marvelously for me, too.
And I could pop in to visit more often without worrying about how "that" was gonna look over my shoulder.
Not that I don't enjoy reading or writing it...but sometimes that's just not the way the muses want to go, and my muses LOVE prompts (nom nom)
Since it's all about the pairings within the fandoms, i think it's safe to assume what one may find here.
Of course, having said that, this comm more than anything else is what has pushed me to "keep writing till you get to the good stuff" on more than one occasion ;)

to me this comm is very much an extended sort of kink meme, and not all the prompts get written in kink memes. It's just sort of a hazard of the process of prompting. You can't force people to write for you. So the fact that you care about lonely prompts at all means a lot, but I don't think you're ever going to get them all filled. I'm perfectly happy as things are, and I don't think there's any need for lonely prompts to be kept in perpetuity.

1) I think competition always makes people write more
