I've noticed that apparently it's impossible for me to keep responses to your prompts limited to one comment. Apologies!
"You always underestimate me, Jack. You always assumed that I was the one you needed to protect, and now I'm protecting the world. All of it. Even the ones that don't want it." Jack heard what Daniel was saying, but he wasn't processing the words. He might not be all that fond of the Russians, but killing millions of them that just seemed like...
"Overkill," Jack said, his voice quiet. It wasn't shaking, though, and he considered that a good sign. It also wasn't what Daniel was expecting Jack to say, because he didn't say anything at all, not right away. It wasn't even what Jack was expecting to say. Or the tone of voice he expected to use. He was suddenly tired, the weight of the world, the weight of millions dead in Moscow, it was suddenly all on his shoulders and he hunched over.
