Fill - Mal/Inara

When it came to it, he missed her refined defiance. Her haughty eyes, that certain smile she only used when she thinks he’s acting a fool. The Gorram woman had scornful words aplenty she would deign to grace him with like he was some back-planet hick who’d never been off world before when she had a mind to, but she could say more with the silent quirk of her lips than some folks could in a thousand words.

‘Course, it was mightily harder to fight with her now she’d left the safety of Serenity for her Aiya silk-covered training house.

Thank you! Firefly language use/tone is so specific I'm often intimidate to try and write for it- the UST that leaves Mal at a loss for coherent arguments was far too fun to pass up though. -_^

I've only seen four episodes, but I think you captured Mal's voice really well. And "refined defiance" describes Inara to a T ;)

I didn't see Firefly until last year either myself, but I totally love it. (Actually, my now-fiance got me into it right before we started dating, so I assume even years down the road it will still fill me with warm fuzzies. ♥)

How are you liking it?

Aw, that's so sweet. Yes, it probably will bring back lots of memories, then. :D

Hmm... I'm not such a big fan, tbh. I kind of lost interest a few episodes in for some reason; Buffy seems a lot more interesting. I think I was expecting massive quantities of angst (*cough* SPN) and the show didn't really deliver there. Idk, I couldn't really connect with any of the characters except Mal (to an extent) and Inara. And I suppose I would've grown to like River, if I'd seen more of her.

See, I love Buffy too much to argue with that statement. XD Are you watching that for the first time too? Where are you at?

Also: OMG the Serenity movie brings the angst so, so much- the series is definitely worth finishing at some point, if only for the one-liners and general random kickass-ness.

Really? Maybe I should try rewatching Firefly then... or does Serenity work as a standalone?

Yes, although I haven't watched past Season 6. :D
