Highlander/any vampire series, Methos, vampires have forgotten how to recognize Death... it's time they were taught to remember

A/N: It's set in the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series, but none of the named characters are there.

Come and See!Joe laughed out loud when “Adam” was ushered into the room. Even Mac looked flummoxed. The vampires merely looked blank as only vampires can ( ... )

“I’m not…” Joe started to protest.

“Yes, Joe? The effect gets stronger over time. How long can you bear to hear my voice addressing you directly? Before that which has replaced your soul burns at the very sound.”

Methos was right. The other vampires had already fled the room and it was taking all of Joe’s strength to not follow them and skitter away. He had been a marine and he was this man’s friend, but all his instincts said to run. To crawl. To hide. He didn’t have the strength to not flinch at each syllable.

Mac finally put an end to it by stepping between them, shielding Joe with his body. “Methos, stop!”

“And you, Solstice child, Cassandra’s Champion, you let Joe give up his soul?”

“That’s not what vampirism is!”

“That’s exactly what vampirism is. Just because there’s no way to scientifically prove the existence of a soul, doesn’t mean the loss doesn’t matter. Now get out of here, both of you ( ... )

Yeah, probably not, but I sort of hand-waved away an elaborate backstory that would lead him to that decision, so that Methos could show up and be pissed.

ouch, I loved this... though I didnt think that Joe would choose to be a vampire this was a great way to show Methos serious side and how much it matters to him what Joe is and was

Yeah, it would take some pretty extreme circumstances to make Joe do that (and I can't actually think of any off the top of my head), but I needed someone to play that roll and I can't think of anyone else who could provoke that reaction from Methos. A longer, more developed story would probably have to include an original character. Hmm... or maybe Joe's daughter Amy?

Yes I could see Amy do it... and not understand why her father is so against it...

Joe as vampire--good or bad--that does take their friendship and twist it sideways. Very interesting premise, and possible dire consequences.

I think Joe is one of the few people that Methos cares enough about to really get mad about. I don't know what the consequences would be, but "dire" is a good word for it.

I'm so glad someone finally did the 'Methos as a holy object' thing. I always thought something like this should happen of he came accross demons. He was mentioned in the Bible after all. Also - love terrifying BAMF!Methos, thanks for that. :)

Thanks! And yeah, there need to be more Methos-as-holy-object fic out there. And BAMF!Methos too, although it can be difficult coming up with a situation that Methos would care enough about to be BAMF.
