Christian tipped his head to one side and blinked at Stevie, whiskers twitching. "What?"
"See, I know you can talk like them, making the same sounds but... can you actually talk to them?"
"Umm..." Christian bit into his sandwich. "Like we are now?" Stevie nodded and Christian chirped softly. "I don't know. I never tried. Why?"
Stevie rolled up his sleeve to show Christian the angry red scratches up his arm. "I don't think my mommy's cat likes me. And I wanted you to tell her to be nice to me."
"I'm sorry." Christian pulled Stevie into a cuddle and kissed his arm better - just like his mama always did when he was hurt. "I'll try," he promised.
