Deathly Hallows reaction

Jul 23, 2007 22:08

One nice thing about Friday night was that I was able to purchase Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at the grocery store instead of Borders (I had to wait until after 2 am to get my book there last time because of the crowds).  This year, I got it at 12:02 am at Jewel and was home and reading by 12:30 or so and finished it by 6:30 pm on Saturday ( Read more... )

I think I finally got it figured out (took me two reads to realize that Victoire is Bill and Fleur's kid).

I didn't get that until I read someone else mention it in a HP community.

Fred getting killed bothered me so much. It was just so pointless. I knew a Weasley had to die but not one of the twins! If it was Percy then I would've been okay with that.

Remus/Tonks dead. That was just completely cruel for JKR to do. Argh, to leave a son behind! Now all the Mauraders are dead. :(

Fred getting killed was horrible! I had to stop reading for a while because it affected me so much. I would have been okay with Percy too (although I'm glad he came back to the good side).

Remus/Tonks both dead was just awful because I kept thinking about their poor son.

Basically, as much as I loved the book, I'm sad that more characters didn't get the happy endings that they deserved. :(

Neville was made of awesome. I was so proud of him, I was bursting. And I was so happy that my faith in Percy was justified. He was just retaining that Weasley stubbornness but when it came down to it, he was right there with his family. I love my Percy.

Neville definitely is made of awesome! I was so proud of him throughout the entire thing. He's definitely grown into an amazing person. And I was glad that Percy came back, even if it took him quite a while. :)

I took my little brothers to an OOtP release party whenit came out years ago and swore never to go back again. Too many unsupervised children too late at night in too many funny hats. This year we waited until saturday morning and then went to Costco. It was cheaper and so much faster.

Yeah, going to places like Costco and Jewel is great because you can get the book without all the hassle. I only wish I'd thought of it for the other books!

I definately loved this book. The one thing that really made me happy/sad/depressed was Lupin and Tonks. They were so cute and angsty. -hugs teddy-

And Neville is now one of my favorite characters. He was attacking people with plants, I mean, what's not to love about that? Glad you enojoyed the book.

That was amazingly awesome. With this book Neville has become one of my favorite characters as well. I love him and his Hogwarts resistance ways.

The Lupin/Tonks storyline was incredibly angsty. I'm said that they didn't get to have a happy ending. *also hugs Teddy*

I just finished it. I'm emotionally done for.

Dumbledore being friends with Grindelwald took me completely by surprise, but I thought it added a lot of depth to Dumbledore's character that he never took more power because he couldn't trust himself with it.

I really, really enjoyed this part -- seeing Dumbledore as a teenager who made mistakes really made me feel more ... akin? to him? I'm not sure what. I loved Harry's rollercoaster of emotions towards Dumbledore and how we all rode it with him.

There's so much more, most of which you said and with I agree. What a good book 7!

It definitely was a great book and I felt emotionally done for afterwards for a while as well. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I liked going through the rollercoaster of emotions towards Dumbledore with Harry as well. Dumbledore's mistakes made him much more human and relatable and I thought that was cool.

It was a great final book for the series. :)
