Dinner at the Kent Farm was a little better than usual, just because this was the first time Lana had someone to share it with since Clark disappeared. She'd stayed in hopes he would come back eventually and they could say a proper goodbye, rather than have him come back to find her gone. It seemed like the right thing to do, and now more than ever ( Read more... )

"Anything, really," Sam said with a sigh. "I've read a lot in the newspapers, but it really would be interesting to have a first hand perspective."

Sam was actually -- enjoying himself, which he hadn't done in a long time. Not since before Dean died at least. Lana took a deep breath. "Well...I'm sure you've read about how the meteors have changed people, given them these superhuman abilities." She shook her head a little. "It seems like all the crazy ones are drawn to me..." She paused for a second, thinking over what she'd just said. "And contrary to popular belief, not all of them are. It's just that it's the criminals that get all the press, and anyone else with abilities keeps it to themselves, mostly because they're afraid of what might happen if anyone knew."

Sam nodded slowly, thinking about the vampire den that Gordon had tried to eliminate, or Hell, even Azazel's other kids. It was -- disturbing -- the way some people just couldn't give people a chance to show themselves. Yes, there were some people who got the gifts who were beyond repair, but then there were guys like Andy who -- well, he was good people. Even if he didn't seem like it at first.

"I can understand that. People can be a bit unforgiving when it comes to things they don't understand."

"Yeah. I'll admit I thought the same thing once. Granted there were a lot of them who tried to kill me, but-" She shook her head. It was no excuse and she knew that. "Who they are didn't change because some green rocks fell out of the sky." A pause. "Well, that's not entirely true. It depends on the mutation."
