What made Golden Age comics so awesome?

I could go with the simply answer; nothing! People like what they like and you can't find a good enough reason because my reason is not your reason.

But I suppose the stories were new. Now days most stories remind us of something. Too many characters, too many storylines.

I think a lot of it is just a matter of opinion in the same vein that everyone remembers their childhood being better than the next generations. "Well, back when I was reading comics..." and the like. It's true that it was really groundbreaking for the industry, but that's only because the industry was so young. It's easy to break ground when nothing came before you. But I'd contest that there are Golden Age comics that were lousy, and really amazing stuff that has come from both the Silver Age and more modern comics.

well the person I keep hearing this from wasn't even alive anywhere near the time of Golden Age. And I read a bit of Golden Age and I didn't see anything that made me go 'OMG THIS IS AWESOME'. I guess its just for the fact that this was a new industry so I guess I shall try not to let it get to me that people keep trying to tell me Modern Age doesn't matter.
