Summer online has begun. Three different classes, very different areas. This will be fun. The hard part is getting everyone online and, in one of my classes, some of the students transferred in from a face to face class so it is a bit of culture shock for them. It's nice to sit at the desk, drink coffee, look out the window and hear the birds, ( Read more... )

You are in great company in your criticisms, and thanks by the way. I can use it. This is fun, and I think I may use podcasting as a tool in my face to face classes as well.
And you are a serendipitous woman. I need to have my students sign up for presentations in another class and was wishing there were a way to put a document out there that would let go in and put their own names in, where everyone else could see what and when their classmates are presenting. I'm going to play with etherpad.
I've got to get rid of some stuff on my computer though. It's getting crowded.

I can help you with that - too. :) Depending on how sensitive the information is, you can burn stuff onto disk, get an external hard drive (they're getting cheap as dirt these days), and/or get an online dumping ground for your work. I'm surprised that Olivet doesn't offer external hard drive space for temporary work.

We shall chat more. There are definitely options out there for you for anywhere from free to cheap to zomgexpensive. :) Depending on your needs.

Actually I built (with the help of one of my colleagues) an external drive with a terrabyte of space. Half of it is for my timelord backup ( time machine), a quarter has music and photos and a quarter is windows for Ethan's laptop. I've got an old LaCie with about 20 GB at work that isn't getting used. I thought I'd reformat that and load all 16GB of WOW onto that. I don't play at school, I rarely play at home.
I do have space in the school's ether world but can't access it at home so.
Does this sound like a reasonable way to go?
