Friday Five - Prompt: Crossovers
Shockingly, this isn't a set of Brad/Nate recs! There's even some het - not a lot of that in this fandom - and a video to mix things up a bit. And five different crossover fandoms: True Blood, American Gods, Battlestar Galactica, Bones and Band of Brothers.

The moon is higher now, and there are light footsteps coming around the corner. Godric waits, until he sees Nathaniel Fick pass from the darkness through the light and back into the dark again. He runs the same loop almost every night, at the same time, as precise as a clock.
Godric does not watch him go, but he listens to the gravel scrape under Nate’s shoes as he runs down an alley, still looking at the light.
Such a beautifully written story: stark, elegant phrasing, with a tremendous feel of the age of the protagonist.

Nate remembers how easy it was, then. To pretend that the things Brad saw and did were entirely normal. Nate wonders if he should have noticed sooner, but he thinks - no. Brad was careful. He was methodical - is methodical - and Nate knows. He only knows now because Brad wants him to.
Beautifully written, especially the slow reveal.

“You gonna keep staring like that all night, soldier, or are you gonna come over here and do something about it?” She’s grinning as she stares right back at Brad, bright and sharp like a slice of sunlight in the room; arrogant and cocky and a little bit crazy, not to mention gorgeous as hell. Fuck it, Brad has been staring, and he’ll be fucked if he’s gonna back down now.
An inspired pairing! Every bit as hot as you could imagine!

"This is not a typical recon Marine operation," Nate says, serenely, refusing to take Ray's bait.
Going into this story, I wasn't sure how much I'd get out of it, as I've seen about half an episode of Bones. But it turned out not to matter at all, because it's a gorgeously crafted story, part mystery, part budding romance, and is just incredibly satisfying.
