A/N: DOMO! I am really sorry for the delay of this fan fiction! I am somehow carried away by the tide of my hectic life.... Please bare with my lame plot. I think I am really getting dull with this. Still self-beta'd, as always! I'm sorry for everything wrong or you won't like. This is my first time writing for our dear Ryutaro Morimoto and I am offering this as a gift for his birthday on April 6 and for him being a high school student by Monday! He has always been the one that makes me think I am going on a pedophile mode Nee-chan mode when I look at everyone in JUMP... XD
So much with the blahs,
DOZO!!
Chapter 1:
"Wrong Words"
.-.-.-.-.-.-.
Ryutaro felt his steps getting heavier as he covered the distance towards his classroom. He thought his life was a torture in the making. Who won't anyway? Here he was, walking on the corridor of his school very early in the morning as if he didn't perform like mad yesterday for the last day of Hey! Say! JUMP's winter concert.
He heaved a sigh.
'Well Ryutaro, you just need to go to the classroom for the attendance. You can sleep as the class proceeds since the teachers will surely understand...' He thought, cheering himself. 'You'll graduate soon anyway then you can go to Horikoshi Gakuen -- the school of Yuto-kun, Yama-chan and Chinen-kun -- and you can have all the liberty when it comes to your schedule... Hai!' He continued.
He then turned to his left and braced himself before sliding the classroom's door open.
"OHAYOU RYUTARO-KUN!!!" Were the loud words that greeted him. It made him almost deaf for a while.
He snorted in annoyance. 'It's her again...'
A girl stood in front of him, smiling from ear to ear. A scene he always witness every morning since he became a third year student in middle school. 'I wonder how it will feel if someone beats her in being the first person to greet me everyday.'
"Ohayou...." He greeted back reluctantly, his voice trailed off as he walked past her.
"How are you? Your winter concerts just ended yesterday, right?" The girl asked continuously as she followed him.
"Yeah..." He answered and settled to his chair.
She is the type of girl he always thinks he won't like even though he doesn't know her thoroughly -- just through his first impressions. She giggles too much when something delights her, she is really noisy when she is in the mood, she is slow especially in sports, she sometimes seems to be overly innocent like she is just pretending it and she is undeniably more intelligent than him that she had beat him twice in chess. Those annoy the heck out of him.
She smiled again.
And that was one of the reasons why he never let himself get along with her, her smiles give him a bad giddy feeling.
Ryutaro looked away, to the windows, in attempt to find things worth looking at.
"By the way, I believe you still don't have the answers for our Chemistry assignment..." She said.
That got Ryutaro looking back at her again, "A-assignment?" 'Oh shit, yes! I was thinking about that yesterday before the concerts started. I can't believe I totally forgot all about it!' He cursed inwardly.
"Bin--go!!!" She exclaimed and showed a notebook to him. "Here's my assignment. Copy it as immediately as you can because Sensei will be coming in five minutes. Ja!~" She informed before disappearing in front of him, leaving the notebook on top of his desk.
He hurriedly dug his notebook and pen from his bag and started copying before his five minutes end.
Another reason why he find her annoying? She knows what he needs even before he realizes it -- just like what was happening.
While he was busy, he noticed someone went near to him.
"Oi, Mori-chan! Long time no see!!!"
He looked up and saw his closest buddy in the class, Fuji Satoshi, smiling. He couldn't help feeling glad.
"Baka! Didn't we see each other on the video game store last weekend?!" Ryutaro said in between chuckles.
"The last weekend you are talking about was the weekend before this weekend... That's basically one and a half weeks ago!" His friend protested.
'Here we go with his rational explanations again...' He rolled his eyes and continued copying assignment. "You just missed me too much Sato! And stop calling me with that name..."
Satoshi was the class genius, Ryutaro was the class prince and with these titles, they tend to be left out of the crowd. Some got intimidated, some were jealous, and some were just shy. And due to circumstances, they found a great friend through each other. They didn't have any other choice anyway.
Being a curious one, Satoshi peeked at what Ryutaro was doing. "Ahh, copying Mizuno-san's assignment again... Aren't you so sweet together?" Sato teased when he recognized the handwriting on the notebook Ryutaro was copying.
"She offered it." He replied flatly.
"But you took the offer. Just the same." Satoshi continued. "I knew it!" He suddenly exclaimed.
Ryutaro looked up at him again, startled with the sudden rise of his voice. "What?"
"Haven't I told you that she definitely has a crush on you?" He posed dramatically like a detective who just revealed one of his most priced information.
'Not again...' "Listen, will you stop disturbing me? Can't you see I'm being busy in here copying this damn Chemistry assignment before Sensei comes?" He blurted out in frustration. His friend wasn't getting the atmosphere.
"Oh no, stop denying it Ryutaro..." He continued, ignoring Ryutaro's pleading. “Maybe you like her back already. If my calculations and memory are both correct, it's been 160 mornings or roughly 8 months since she started her routine of greeting you every morning asking you if you're fine and stuffs like that... With the length of her persistence in showing her feelings to you, you developing a feeling for her isn't impossible."
"You even made an effort of taking account of those. I'm impressed Sato, now let's postpone this chat on some other time ne! I have to prioritize things, okay?!" Ryutaro made the kindest face he could despite his rising temper. Satoshi couldn't just stop the teasing early in the morning. 'This is bad. I wonder where he will end up if he continues this...'
Satoshi grinned, "You don't need to be impressed. Those are just my observations and besides, how do you feel for her anyway?"
"What??" He asked in disbelief. 'He is not stopping... This is absurd!'
"Your feelings... for her!" He emphasized every words of his sentence.
'What the... Why wouldn't he just stop this crap?' "Fuji Satoshi, what good would it do to you in being nosy about these kinds of crap?"
"My curiosity will be fed up." He replied with his eyes gleaming with curiosity.
Ryutaro face-palmed and turned back to his assignment. There was just one item left that he needed to copy. "She is not my type and she annoys me..." He muttered. His eyes glued onto the notebook in front of him.
Finally, he finished writing the chemical formula for the last item on their assignment. While looking through his notes, he noticed Sato suddenly became quiet.
"Happy now that your curiosity is fed up Sato?" He asked without looking to his friend.
But still no reply. He furrowed his brows. It's unusual for Satoshi to get silent just by that so he decided to look at him.
"Oi, Sato..." He called out when he saw his friend freezing and dumbfounded while looking at someone. Ryutaro looked at the direction Satoshi was facing and got surprised as well.
He saw Anari Mizuno, the one they were just talking about, stood still a few desk away from them. She was looking gloomy; in contrast of the cheerful mood she had earlier when she met him.
"Ehh? Nande?" Ryutaro blurted.
Just then, Anari stormed towards his direction and snatched her notebook from him.
"Ahh, thanks by the way! I was about to return it to you..." His voice trailed off for the second time on that day as he found it useless talking to her because she wasn't listening anymore.
She just walked away from them and settled to her chair on the other end of the room.
Ryutaro was confused of her actions. "What happened?" He asked Satoshi. "She was just very genki a while ago and now, she's getting grumpy..." He murmured.
"It's my fault Ryutaro..." Satoshi answered, his face showed fear.
"What have you done?" Ryutaro asked again.
He gulped before opening his mouth. "She heard what you said..."
"What did I say?" But before Satoshi could answer him, he figured it himself, "WHAT?! SHE DID?" He got alarmed.
Satoshi wasn't able to do more than nodding.
Just then, the class door slid open revealing the frame of their Homeroom teacher, Hanazawa-sensei.
"Ohayou minna..." She greeted.
"Ohayou Sensei..." Half of the class replied while Satoshi scurried his way back to his own chair.
As the teacher started the roll call for the class attendance, Ryutaro stole a glance to Anari. She was not on the mood. He could see it since she's really quiet in her chair. She usually chats with her friends so loudly that even though she was very far from him, he could hear what she was talking about.
He didn't really care about her but he knew he offended her. He was guilty. 'This is Satoshi's fault! What should I do then? Well, at least I was being honest. Ah, whatever....'
His guilty thoughts flew away as the class proceeded mainly because he fell asleep. The teachers were kind enough to let him doze off since they were aware of his shimmering career.
"Lucky Ryutaro, I wish I could sleep like that in class..." Satoshi muttered when he saw his friend snoring on his desk.
.-.-.-.-.-.-.
Ryutaro was utterly surprised by the quietness of his morning. The moment he slid the classroom door open, he was bracing himself just to meet his classmates usual loud morning chattering.
He blinked twice, feet rooted on the ground like waiting for something to happen until someone tapped him on his back.
"Ah, aren't you going inside?" One of his classmates asked when he saw him literally blocking the doorway.
Ryutaro mouthed 'sorry' to him and walked towards his chair. He crouched down towards his shoes, pretending to clean it from some dust but his eyesight roamed around their classroom, searching for someone in particular.
Within a few seconds, he spotted her, Anari Mizuno, talking to one of her close friends and giggling all the while. She was on her usual genki self again.
Ryutaro sighed in relief. 'At least I won't be guilty anymore. She looks back to normal...' He thought and straighten his back only to see his friend Satoshi sitting on his desk. "Hey! Don't sit here!" He spat as he pushed him away.
But Satoshi didn't have the same plan, "She did not greet you ne...~" He commented about the scene he had witnessed earlier. "She usually positions herself in front of the door approximately 5 minutes before you arrive but today she just sits on her chair and talk to her friends..."
"I don't care." Ryutaro muttered as he searched something in his bag.
Satoshi looked at him, "Listen Ryutaro, I'm sorry about this ne! I know it--"
"Will you stop it??! I said I don't care about these stuffs already... It's nonsense!" He said with conviction. His face showed annoyance.
Satoshi was taken aback. 'He must have found this really annoying... I should have not pried on his personal life! Now his love life is ruined!!!' "Ah, okay. I won't talk about this any longer." He said, trying not to make his voice sound breaking. He was afraid to make Ryutaro madder. He got off from his desk. "By the way, there is this new educational TV show this afternoon, after the class. I need to go home as fast as I can so I wouldn't be able to hang out with you..."
Ryutaro's expression softened, 'Was I that harsh to him?' "I understand Sato..."
And Satoshi retreated to his chair in time when their teacher arrived in their classroom.
Ryutaro heaved another sigh. 'Why is this getting on my nerves?'
He felt something was amiss.
