A/N: HI everyone. Gahh! How are you doing?! Nahh! Me? I'm busy but I'm happy I am able to update today (maybe because I got too much inspiration seeing Yuto on shokura again! Waah! I love that guy!) Anyway, here's the 25th chapter with a lame title since I've realized that when I can't think of any decent title, why don't I just put the location? :)
Still a self-beta'd one coz I'm a narcissist. I'm sorry for everything wrong and thank you to everyone who read and commented the previous chapters.
Word count: 2632 words (the longest chapter for now, I think)
Chapter 25:
"Ice Cream Shop"

Ayako smiled. She was looking at the guy coming inside the ice cream shop donning a mostly black outfit. Even though her eyesight was one of the worst, her critical thinking couldn't be wrong in judging the guy's physique. That guy was none other than Nakajima Yuto. Finally, he looked at where she was and slightly waved. She waved back, signaling that she saw him.
"Aya-chan! I'm sorry if I'm late!"
She shook her head, "Oh no, it's just 4:05, just five minutes late." 'Waah! Why does he look so cool today? Though he looks so worn off due to movie shootings and stuffs, he's as sparkling as ever.'
He settled on the chair across her. "Hehe! So, let's order!"
They called the waiter and ordered their ice creams: chocolate haven for Ayako and creamy mango for Yuto. She recommended it to him since she knew of his fondness to that fruit.
They chatted about the hows and whats of each other's lives for 6 minutes until their orders arrived.
"Here are your orders..." The waiter called out while setting their ice creams from the tray to the table.
"Arigatou!" Yuto and Ayako said in unison.
"Welcome!!!" The waiter cheerfully replied and went away to entertain other customers.
They started digging their spoons on the ice creams and put the creamy and delicious cold desserts in their mouths with delight. Ayako was giggly and elated. Why not? In front of her was the guy she never stopped adoring and she was falling head over heels again as she witnessed him feast on the ice cream like a preschooler who got a present for his birthday.
He was way too adorable -- even those who didn't know him personally or those not his fans found him so amusing to look at. Great example was the waiter who was looking at them. Her mouth was agape and might remained like that for a longer time until her superior, the man in the cashier, whacked her with a tray on her side. The waiter bowed in apology to the cashier.
"So, how do you find it?" asked Ayako who was smiling widely.
Yuto licked his lower lip, which was filled with ice cream due to his too much eagerness in eating, before he answered, "Oishii!!!"
Her smile turned wider, "Yappari, I know you'll like it!"
"Haha!" He laughed. He found it hilarious that she already knew what he likes. It's been a long time since they have been friends anyway "Wanna have some?" He offered while pushing his cup of mango ice cream to her.
She shook her head, "Uh, no. I've tasted that already!"
"Hmm, okay." He pulled the cup back. "Ahh, how is yours?" He peeked at her cup, "Oh, chocolate! You love chocolate right?!"
She nodded, "Hai! It's really yummy too!"
"Can I have a taste?" He asked childishly.
She grinned. "Of course!" She was more than willing to comply. She enthusiastically pushed her cup towards him and looked at him while spooning a part of her ice cream chocolate and put it on his mouth.
"Oishii...." He commented.
"Hahaha!!!" She chuckled.
Suddenly, a sigh escaped from his lips, "Wahh!! Ice creams are really great stress relievers! I feel very light right now!"
"Yey! I'm glad you're enjoying it here. Let's come here again, there are still two new flavors left. We can taste it the next time you're not busy again." She suggested.
He smiled, "Sure! Why not!!!" He exclaimed and continued eating the ice cream in front of him.
That time, Yuto heard something out of place. His brows curled as he analyzed the melody filling the air. He was sure it's not part of the music playing on the shop's stereos since it was an old ballad song while the tone he was hearing was a catchy one. He looked at Ayako who was busy smiling while eating her ice cream and suddenly figured things out.
"I think you're phone is ringing." He informed.
Ayako was startled, "Haa?" It took her few seconds to process what he said and another few seconds to realize that her phone was actually ringing -- which made it approximately a minute of lagging.
She chuckled in embarrassment as she took her phone and looked at who was calling, "Ahh, it's Ryosuke-kun." She muttered.
Yuto's eyes widened in disbelief. 'He's calling her on his break???'
"Moshi moshi..." She greeted while smiling. She changed her position to the side so that she would be facing the wall instead of Yuto "...maji de? Ahaha!! Yeah I need to. You should spare me even just one piece! I have never eaten a homemade yakiniku!! ... So what did your Okaa-chan said? ... Ahaha! It's because you are her son, it's normal! Ahaha!!! Oh no, I told you I don't know how to cook right?! ... Of course it is!!!"
As her phone conversation lengthened, Yuto's mood changed gradually. He didn't like to finish his ice cream anymore and was just stirring the cream playfully with the spoon. He looked at their surroundings with no interest. He thought he was annoyed.
"... Yabai! Oh come on be serious! ... No, I can't even cook a decent meal. Ahaha!!!... Hmm, I'm in the ice cream shop with Yuto-kun..."
"Ah, I thought you were home! I'm sorry for disturbing you Ayako-san!" apologized Yamada, who was unaware that Yuto would be spending their unexpected break with her. 'I should have known.'
"It's fine, you don't need to say sorry!" said Ayako.
"Hmm... I think the yakinuku is ready to be served. I'll just call you again ne. Bye bye!~"
"Okay, bye bye!"
Click!
The phone call ended.
Ayako put her cell phone back to her bag and was puzzled to see Yuto looking indifferent. 'Uhh, was it so long? Oh my, I made him bored!' Her thoughts got alarmed. "Y-yuto-kun...?"
He looked at her without changing the expression on his face.
'Maaa~ He really got bored. This is your entire fault Ayako! You should have not stayed long on the phone!!!' "Ahh... Have you eaten a yakiniku?" She randomly asked just to strike a sensible conversation and she was aware that when it comes to meat, anything is sensible for him.
He nodded, "Yeah, how about you?"
She shook her head, "Not yet. Ryosuke-kun's cooking yakiniku in their house. I wonder if it's really that delicious since he is boasting about it a while ago."
"It's delicious and his grandmother used to own a yakiniku shop then they inherited the recipe so his words aren't empty." He informed; eyes were too occupied following a guy in a suit who entered the shop.
"Really..."
"Aya-chan." He called out, but his gaze was still not on her.
She felt nervous. "N-nani Yuto-kun?"
That instant, Yuto looked directly at her, "Do you like Yama-chan?"
The question did come so fast that Ayako's mind was buffering again. "Hai!" Her answer came abruptly.
Yuto looked surprised in a negative way. Just then, it turned into a disappointed expression. "Sou...~"
'What was it? Ha??? He asked if I like Ryosuke-kun? What for? But, I need to explain! I don't wanna sound like I have some HD (hidden desires) towards his best friend!'
Finally, her mind started to work fast. "Eto... Yuto-kun, I mean of course I like Ryosuke-kun! Everyone does! He's friendly, cute, cool, adorable, wonderful dancer, awesome singer and he cooks. And besides, we won't be friends unless I don't like him, right?" She stopped while looking at him; eyes were blinking like she was using it to add some unnecessary effects to her statement.
Yuto was astounded with his mouth agape. He thought she just talked in the speed of 5 words per second but he understood it all. "Y-you don't really need to talk that fast, you know." 'Is she trying to say she really likes him?'
Ayako smiled, "Haha! I just don't want you the get the wrong idea as immediate as possible. Ryosuke-kun is my friend and I'm sure you know how good of a person he is."
Yuto nodded. 'Hmm, yeah I'm getting an idea here but I'm not sure if that's what you really mean. Girls tend to say things with deeper meanings, right? I remember this from our Social Science class.'
"I only look at him as a very good friend. By the way, please don't tell him that I said wonderful things about him. I'm pretty sure he will be more than flattered!" She said wryly.
He forced a smile to assure her that he believed her. "Yeah, sure!" 'If that's what you say...'
And silence reigned.
Yuto continued playing the left over ice cream on his cup with the spoon while Ayako was still struggling to finish her uber-sweet chocolate ice cream. Just then, the stereos on the ice cream shop played the song "Tanabata Matsuri" of Tegomass.
...Tokyo no sora ni wa hoshi ga nai n datte ne kimi kara no tegami ni wa sou kai te atta kedo...
"Ehh!" Ayako blurted out as she looked upwards, to the stereos above them.
Yuto just continued doing what he was doing though he had noticed how startled Ayako was with the song.
'What the... Tanabata? Is it coming already???' Her thoughts wondered. That was when she realized why her neighbors started to put bamboo branches on the road and some elementary students gathering in front of something on the train station with strips of colored papers. It was time for Tanabata Festival again. The music brought back bittersweet memories that Ayako couldn't bare to reminisce, "Excuse me. I'll just go to the toilet for a while."
Yuto knew why but he couldn't do anything, "Sure. I'll just be waiting here."
And she disappeared from his sight.
...tanabata matsuri ga chikaduku yoru wa
naran de arui ta koto omoidasu
oboe te iru ka na futari de nagame ta
manten no hoshizora ni ai ni oide yo...
Yuto hummed with the song as he gently stomped his left foot with the beat. 'So Tanabata Matsuri is bad for Aya-chan ne~ She doesn't like it anymore... and it's all because of me.'

That morning, the whole gang of Hey! Say! JUMP had proceeded to their postponed photo shoot for the monthly issues of a certain magazine. Since it was planned in haste, everyone needed to woke up very early and dragged their sleepy bodies unto the photo studio.
Clap. Clap. Clap.
The director took their attention from what they were doing and gave a brief instruction. The theme for them was dessert. They would be asked various things about their favorite sweets and such. With that, even though they felt like zombies due to lack of sleep their bodies got energized with the month's theme as various sweets arrived on the set for their props. The younger subgroup - HS7 including Daiki, was already charged up more than usual.
"So everyone, choose your props now." The director announced.
The staffs were astounded seeing Hey! Say! JUMP getting all too excited with the sweets that when they heard the director's orders, they immediately ran to the table.
After few minutes of commotion, pushings, childish antics, pleadings and laughing they were finally ready.

"Okay, last pose... Give me a serious, sensual one!" The photographer shouted to the ten adorable dorks guys in front of him.
"Ehh??" The ten of them objected.
"Nani?" Ryutaro protested vaguely.
"Sensual?? Not again..." Daiki added.
The photographer tilted his head so the guys would see his 'serious' and scary expression. "Just do it or we will never be finished."
"Oh come on..." Someone exclaimed.
"On 3, okay. One, two three..."
Flash.
"Okay. You're done!"
"YOSH!!!" Hey! Say! JUMP exclaimed triumphantly.
They retreated to their dressing rooms for a change of clothing. They will gonna have a rehearsal for their dance presentation on an event two hours away so they needed to rest as much as they can.
"Don't make too much noise, do you understand me?"
Hey! Say! 7 heard Yabu commanded before closing the door of their dressing room leaving the five of them having the 'Are we that noisy?' look.
So then, as what the leader said, each of them sulked quietly into their own corners of the room. Chinen prepared to continue his interrupted sleep, Ryutaro started playing on his Nintendo DS and was wearing his eyeglasses, Keito resorted to his iPod, Yamada was reading his manga on a chair and Yuto... well, he was approaching Yamada.
"Yama-chan..."
"Hnn..." The older boy hardly lifted his gaze from the manga as he was approaching the climax of that issue.
"Can we talk, for a while?" Yuto asked.
"Haa?" Chinen, Rutaro and Keito blurted in unison. They were the ones who paid full attention to Yuto rather than Yamada.
Yuto turned to them in surprise but they immediately pretended to be not listening. Even Keito, the calm and collected guy, had just lost his composure.
Everyone in JUMP was aware of their situation and even about the history. No thing could escape from BEST's wonderful spying ability and how cunning and resourceful 7 were to supply BEST with any thing that they needed from information to snacks. Eventually, the Nippon Police Department could put this wonderful ability into good use only if they didn't hide that special talent to the public.
What they know is that Yuto is actually in love to a girl, but he rejected her when she confessed and, ironically, they became friends again. Yet the girl became a close friend of Yamada who is Yuto's best friend. And it turned out that Yamada likes her too. The big question is who does the girl likes now? Is it still Yuto or she develops a liking towards Yamada already?
"Ahh.. Oyasumi!" Chinen sang as he laid on a futon and covered his face with the blanket. He did that to conceal his plans of giving a message to Yabu about what was happening inside their dressing room. 'I need to tell BEST since I'm pretty sure we can't handle a fist fight between Yama-chan and Yuto-kun! They are the only ones who can control them, in case.' He thought as he typed on his phone.
"Where?" Yamada asked Yuto.
"Rooftop..."
"Just go ahead. Give me five minutes, I'll just finish this."
Yuto pouted, "Read faster." Then, he went out of the room.
The other three members of 7 sighed in relief.
Yamada smirked, "You don't need to be worried. We won't be fighting, you know."
"But it feels like strong forces are crushing every time the two of you are together." Keito stated.
Ryutaro's brows curled, "It's frustrating!" He whined helplessly.
Chinen forced himself to stay still and pretended determinedly that he was asleep. But he couldn't escape the others' capability to read the situation.
"You can actually move now Chii." Yamada said in a teasing tone.
A loud sigh came out as Chinen uncovered his face from the blanket, "Thanks"
"Well then," He stood up, closed his manga and set it on the table. "Gotta go to the rooftop."
"Don't fight, okay!" Chinen called out before Yamada closed the door behind him.
Yamada only smirked, 'This is really getting amusing.'
