This fits canon, and gives believable explanations for things JKR didn't. Book 7 was a disappointment; not just by the deaths, but the lack of reasoning behind so much of what happened.
I'd really like to read more of this universe, so I'd encourage another chapter...or twelve... ;)

You reminded me that Severus has Phoenix tears running through him, and I love that image of Severus rising from the ashes of his old life, taking comfort in the memories of past love until his heart has healed enough to "allow someone else to be with him."
I don't have time to write a Snape/OC story, but I do enjoy the thought of a baby Snape peering through the rails of his cot to see what his parents are 'playing' at on a rug before the fire!

This is so melancholy, yet hopeful at the same time. You've written a Severus that is capable of moving on from the past, or at least adapting well to a new future. But it was so sad to see him picturing a life with Tonks and Teddy as his family, only to lose it like that. :(
Lovely work.

Thank you for finding the hope in the story! I do have hope for Severus. He would have been a good father to Teddy, and I believe he'll be a good father to another child one day when his heart has healed and a new love comes into his life. He deserves to say 'all was well' every bit as much as Harry!
