icon tutorial

i got annoyed with all the icon tutorials out there that weren't translatable. so i whipped something up of my own.

I cropped and resized my starting image
from a cap by the lovely _chokeanddie.

1. Duplicate the base 4 times. Set all to screen. Put the last one on %20 and sharpen it.

Here's what I have so far

2. New layer, #F4E9CB, set to soft light at %100
3. New layer, #CBE5EE, set to soft light at %100
4. Duplicate this layer and put it on %70
5. Copy your base again, and bring it up to the top. Set it to soft light.
6. New layer, #D2D2D2, set to color burn at %100

Here is what my color layers look like-


7. Copy and paste this texture by damnicons
. Set this layer to linear burn.
8. I erased the texture around the face and body using a circular brush.

9. Play with saturation/brightness. I used Saturation +10.
