Frog Prince colored pencil

I'm working on this as my first serious piece with colored pencil :)  I've got quite a lot to do still but I would definately appreciate your opinions, especially regarding the pencil overlay one- does all the food look okay, is it placed decently and necessary to the layout or too busy?  Also the frog arms of course.. and anything else :P

The salad looks "wonky" 'cause it's a fairytale setting, and it isn't the main focal point of the scene. :)

And besides the pupil-less eyeball sockets, I really love it! I can "see" where the light's shining through, and am really enjoying your inate sense of colour theory (as in, what obviously works, and what doesn't). The Frog Prince's throne, which I suspect would be murder to hand-coour due to the larger amount of space (leaving a residual streaky-colouring line for me any time I try to do it), looks superb in the scans. I suspect that, once finished, the upper-left portion of the colouring will blend even more smoothly (it's a teensy bit stark in comparison with the smooth coouring of the rest). You know what makes the throne work? You alternated strokes, suggesting a sort of velvet texture. You transformed mere colour into a visual texture.

That's pretty darned amazing!

Also - heh - I love the cake, too! I think that, though the turkey looks perfect on its own, it seems a bit off-kilter in comparison with the placement of the dessert plate... like maybe the dessert is shown through approx. 45-degree angle, and the turney's more like, maybe 65-degrees (see what I'm saying?).

Now, though, I'm wondering if it's just my eyes, because I don't know how I would recommend doing it differently! :)

I was also going to comment about the turkey - it's kind of floating there at an odd angle. Otherwise, and again, the chick's eye sockets are creepy - but otherwise, it's a great picture. :-)
