John showed up on the balcony, feeling a little weathered; more than a little strange. He had a small case of Bud with him he had never quite finished and he set it down, taking a can and popping the tab. He hadn't been outside much this week, maybe that was why he felt off. Because suddenly... everything seemed to be falling into place

He started a bit at the footsteps, which was stupid because he clearly knew they were coming. Shrugging, he turned to Carson with a warm smile, holding his drink up to the man.

"'lo there, doc."

"Sounds like it'll be a blast," John snorted, tapping his can against Carson's as he leant over the rail.

"I think I finally have something off-world tomorrow. Things have been so.. goddamn slow for SGA-1."

John just stared a moment. Cadman and Beckett? Back together? He couldn't help the startled bark of laughter that crossed his lips.

"You're a dog," he accused bemusedly, slapping Beckett on the back as he went for another beer.

John held the can away from his face, glad he hadn't opened it as he laughed openly into his other arm.

"Rodney walked in on you guys? That is... priceless!"
