Didn't surprise me. In fact I have been wondering about it ever since the spoilers about what that episode was going to be about. Hated her as Ruby too, but she herself I have nothing against. Could be interesting although the episode itself I'm sceptic about. Sounds kinda silly.

I don't have anything against Gen. I wouldn't say anything, if she returns to the show. But the story is what is bothering me. I really don't like the idea!

Well, you know I love Gen (and I loved her as Ruby, thought she did it perfectly well for what Ruby was supposed to do), and I love Jared and Gen together, and I dug the Sam and Ruby dynamic, but...I am not a fan of the meta episodes. It feels like they're trying SO HARD to get noticed, to get the critics to say, "WOW, WE'VE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE", and it's just a waste of the few episodes we have left. For a season that has completely gotten rid of one of the leads for the first half of the season, I'd think we'd get more Sam, more on his dealings in Hell. I can't stand Castiel, but I'd prefer to see more of whatever is going on in Heaven, because it sounds crazy interesting. What I DON'T want is more filler.

I'm DYING waiting for this episode. I love the meta eps - mainly I love watching the haters and the creepers getting called out on national television, lol.

But also it's completely within their realm of canon to do it, so why not? Sam as Jared turns around and Gen comes running up and throws her arms around him and kisses him? How will that not be hysterical!?!? Lol, poor Sam! He's going to be like WHAT DEY FUTS.

... watch it end up being all angsty and stuff and make me sad. *sigh*

*edited to add that I honestly don't understand why everyone assumes that just because it is meta, it will be a filler episode. *headdesk*

I really don't like the idea. To me it feel like they don't have any more ideas for awesome stories, so they come up with such a crap.

That's too bad. I honestly think if I felt that way, I'd quit watching. It must still hold something important to you, or else you wouldn't be upset about it, right?

Also I do think it's lame how they keep trying to underline the boys' private status and how they keep forcing G. on us.
it was clear no one liked her as Ruby 2. Now that we got rid of her at least on the show why brining her back under another facade? O.o

I really don't have anything against Gen. It's just the story that's bothering me. Like you said, it's too much RL and to me it feels like they don't come up with any more good stories so they need filler eps :-/
