Indeed. That's a main theme of his work - practical for the cold and styles that were exported. You'd probably like the book though, as I am warning everyone, it's not a how-to book - just hardcore reseaech. He doesn't even include his own illustrations of the reconstructions he is supporting. Jen is going to disect it and try a couple of things based solely on the written descriptions and the period illustrations he has. You may want to talk to her when the time comes.
I bought this book a few months back and haven't had time to fully digest it yet. I also had a similar "oh, wow, this is going to do some paradigm shifting!" thoguht.

Glad to help BUT bear in mind this is NOT a how-to book. It's reseaech and doesn't even include his own illustrations of the reconstructions he is supporting. Jen is going to disect it and try a couple of things based solely on the written descriptions and the period illustrations he has. You may want to talk to her when the time comes.
BTW - she told me you've offered to babysit for us sometime. That's really generous of you. :)
